FloridaFIRST: Workshops for all Florida Teams December 13th
Below is a copy of the e-mail I sent out to all the e-mails I could find for Florida teams, please forward this to the mentors of your team who can try to plan for your team to be able to come. Please have them e-mail me back at miketwalker@cfl.rr.com Thanks.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hello Florida Teams, We have been working the past few months on setting up “FloridaFIRST”, a community similar to that of the WRRF (www.wrrf.org) and IndianaFIRST (www.indianafirst.org) but for Florida. We are currently in the process of developing a main website which should be fully functional by build season, but will soon have the information about the workshops. We are now at the point of finally being able to get others involved to make this a Florida team site and get all teams involved, as well as it getting hard to manage by ourselves. This e-mail is being sent to ask teams what workshops they would be interested in attending. The workshops will be hosted at University High School in Orlando, FL on December 13th. Team 1083 has graciously allowed us to use their facilities for this workshop. The workshop will be a “6 weeks in 6 hours” system. We’re going to attempt to make the actual workshops focus around the actual time period in which it would be used (the first hour would act like the first week and include workshops such as strategizing and design, etc.) We are hoping this process can help show rookies what they can expect. We would like to find out what workshops teams really would like to attend, as well as if anyone specialized (whether it be student, mentor, or engineer) to help teach workshops. Please forward this on to who this information can be read over. We will have a website with the basic information and under heavy construction in a few days at www.floridafirstrobotics.com This system will hopefully evolve into a center for all Florida teams to meet together to help organize events, work out problems, find mentors, etc. Anybody interested in helping us with the website or any area with this workshop is highly encouraged to e-mail us back. Sorry about the late notice, but we hope this can be very successful. Please e-mail us back ASAP with what workshops your interested in, approximately how many students/mentors will be attending, best time for this event to start so you can get to the High School, and anything else you can think of. Thank you for your time, currently these are the only details we have, but once we receive feedback we will send out a much more detailed e-mail, and also check out the website in the coming days. There are many teams who have not posted their e-mails on the FIRST site, please forward this to them if you know their e-mails, as well as all members on your team that would be interested. Thank you very much for your time, and we look forward to seeing you at the workshops. - Michael Walker (Team 21, ComBBAT, miketwalker@cfl.rr.com, AOL SN: miketwalker86) Dan Richardson (Team 710, PAW, KewlguyDan@aol.com, AOL SN: KewlguyDan) |
