3 goal grabber bots in qualification matches?

I want to hear from the teams at VCU about the 3 goal grabber bots and qualification match strategies. How did negotiations go? Were teams willing to let the teams grab 3 goals and get a low scoring win, or did they want a less lopsided victory and a lot of QP?

If I were the coach, I would strongly suggest that the team did not grab all three goals. High QP benefit both teams while a lopsided victory with low QP only benefits the 3 goal grabber team by advertising their abilities.

Mike

Negotiations were not too difficult. Our strategy was employed in all but two of our qualification matches. The 'low' QPs scored with a three goal grabber really aren't too low either. The #1 seed at VCU was team 122 and their avg. score was in the <edit> 80s </edit>. If a three goal grabber successfully deployed every time, it is possible to get 60-90 QPs (two opposing robots / two opposing and ally robot in opposing end zone). I would have never thought that such a strategy would come anywhere close to a decent QP score. However, as you know, MOE started out pretty rough, keeping us from even coming close to ranking in the top 8. How about other teams that played with us or another three goal robot - how did it go?

TO add on to my teammates last message

THe first D.Q. was when a robot pulled a goal ontop of our tether(homing) device

The second one was when we had a non-functioning alliance partner -- when it was 2 on 1... we got stuck under the goal..

But 4 lexan blocks later...and it never happened again

And the other teams did not mind doing the three goal strategy..

especially in out last qualifing match, when we trapped the two opposing little bots in between our robot (SPARKY) a goal on each side (three goals...a robot in between each) and the rails.

It was not concidered pinning because we were not touching the oppponent bots

It was tons of Fun!!!
