What's real, What's better than real...

Hey guys,

We just finished one of our animations here at team 64, and we wanted to see what you all think....

We decided to go with incoporating real images and objects with animated objects, and were looking for some opinions from people who haven't been staring at the thing for 10 weeks...

Anyway, guess what's real, and what's not...

This is the first time I've looked at the forums in weeks and I can only say, WOW. Great Job to Excelsior12 and the other animators, the renders look great. My team has had problems with MAX and inventor problems so we are not sure if we will finish or not. WOW again. Did you use the camera match for the animation or did you use a plug in? The models and textures look great. The only thing that I could notice that you could change is the shadows (the real video has sharp shadows while the robots have blurred ones). Do the robots talk in the animation? Great job again.

Cool

Why thanks Dan Hill. We did use camera match for the pictures and they seemed to turn out great in just about every shot except for the one we had to go in manually and reposition to match our objects. The shadows were originally raytraced but that proved to be a huge problem with our pcs who couldn't even render the first frame so we had to go in and change them to standard. The robots do indeed talk and it looks quite nice.

blurry shadows

Sunny...

You of all people should have realized that there's an easier, faster way to produce solid sharp shadows than raytrace... wouldn't have slowed you guys down hardly at all either... you're getting rusty in your old age...

Actually it was one of those "Oh freaking crap. It's 6 AM in the morning again!! Screw it, render as is." things. And wait... my old age???? I'm two years younger than you, sure I look older but that doesn't take away from the fact.

He may have been able to buy alcohol since he was 12, but he's been doing hash since he was 10!
