Idea: FIRST Staffer Award from the teams.

Since the FIRST Robotics Program is the greatest program on the globe for exposing secondary students to engineering and behind every great program, there are staffers that make it happen, would you like to get some stage time at the Nationals Award Ceremony to thank one FIRST staffer for a gracious act that they performed? In the business world, it would be like the "Caught-in-the-act" or the "Above-and-beyond" awards. If this takes off, we'll compile your ideas and make it a first class thank you but in the meantime, here are some thoughts on the implementation.

==========
The teams, collectively, request (and are granted) some stage time at Nationals to present our Thank You FIRST Staffer award.

Set the criteria for judging the entries.

Solicit one page stories about good acts by FIRST staffers. The story should be able to be read on stage in less than about 90 seconds.

Collect the stories through the Friday of Nationals.

A group of pre-selected "judges" mull through the entries on Friday night and select the winner.

At the awards ceremony, our representative reads the story and presents the award to the deserving staffer. I would propose that our representative be a very deserving and articulate student. Maybe the award has a list of the team numbers from this year (all of the teams that competed this year ... not just the ones that go to Nationals).
==========

What do you think?

-Will it work?
-Would it be well received?
-Can we do it this year?
-Can we really pick just one story and one person?
-Would it be meaningful?
-Would some teams be insulted if we give an award on behalf of them (we would have to contact each team lead ... FIRST will probably help us with this)?
-How do we pick our stage student?
-. . .?

Take care,
Lucien
