Re: Who should build the field?

Our woods class builds the field, it is a win win situation. They get to build something, while learning to follow blue prints, we get a field built.

We are lucky enough at my school to have both Metals and Woods as seperate classes.

Re: Who should build the field?

The students build it. Being rookies almost none of us have used power tools a lot before. Very simple construction using wood works as good introduction to using tools and safety for us before we move onto building the robot.

Re: Who should build the field?

Team 706 did not have time to build a field this year. To test our prototype ball launcher, we drew a 30" circle on a chalkboard. We assumed that we would be able to make it up the ramp with our grippy pneumatic tires and high COG. We were proved wrong at the scrimmage over at 537 on sunday before ship. We removed about 15 pounds off the top (we were 25 lbs over) and added bumpers, so we should be able to go up it now.
