Who's going to Philly?

Has anyone had the time to figure out which traditional power house teams are going to Philly?

How many teams will be in Philly?

I have not had time to go through the program to determine who is going where.

Quickly looking down the list that Lori Buckley sent out, the following names catch my attention:

23 -- Boston Edison & Plymouth North
56 -- Ethicon & Bound Brook
64 -- GM Desert Proving Ground & Queen Creek
65 -- GM Milford Proving Ground & Huron Valley
68 -- GM Truck Group & Oakland Technical Center - Northwest
121 -- Naval Undersea Warfare Center & Middletown
175 -- UTC/ Hamilton Standard Space Systems International / Techni Products & Enrico Fermi
176 -- UTC/ Hamilton Standard & Windsor Locks & Suffield
177 -- UTC/ International Fuel Cells & ONSI & South Windsor
186 -- Walt Disney World & Project Future & The Challenge Center
190 -- Worcester Polytechnic Institute & Massachusetts Academy of Math & Science
191 -- Xerox Corporation & Joseph C. Wilson Magnet

I am sure that there are many strong veteran teams that I have overlooked and some tough rookie teams mixed in there too.

Here's to a good clean competition.

Joe J.

You'll see team 177 there. Only a portion of our team will be attending due to school, but we'll be there. We're using it more as a warm-up for Hartford. I think you'll find our robot to be impressive, as many of the UTC robots are this year.

Later,
Jake

Thanks for the warning, Jake: now I won't be able to sleep tonight. Last year, I had you guys picked to win it all. NOBODY could rack up the points faster than you guys. Are you still a high scorer or are you being a role player this year? (We're probably more of the latter, but we're fairly versatile).

Well, you'll have to see at the regional. We are using the regional to test a few things out, so I don't know if we'll be in our complete glory, but, I think you'll see a robot similar to last year in speed, capability and even looks. As one of our engineers posted previosly, we used all 11 motors, and have over 3 lbs of chain on the robot. The robot will once again be a high scoring machine. It is very versitle, and can do EVERYTHING. Just 2 more days and you'll see

later,
Jake

55 teams attending philly this year. One team that you didn't catch is none other than former national champs, RIT/Edison Technical HS, without Harris on my list. I was also wondering, does anyone know what happened to Proctor & Gamble/Walnut Hills HS? I remember what a great rivalry they used to be with my former team (NYPRO). Its kinda sad seeing such a great team and former national champ, no longer with us.
Good Luck to all
Andy Grady

Unfortunately the P&G/Walnut Hills team dissolved this year due to lack
of time and resources.

How about Great Lakes?

The program that was handed out at the Midwest regional lists the teams that were originally intended to attend each regional.

The program lists 60 teams for the Great Lakes regional!! I have a question for you: Can that arena actually hold 60 teams?

Does anyone know how many fields will be used at Philly and Great Lakes? Will they still have only 2 fields? If so, my quick math tells me that each team will only get 6 qualification rounds instead of 10 or 12 as in the previous regionals. Does anyone actually know the official number of round planned for these regionals?

Raul
