: well, its obvious some of us have severe angst regarding software piracy.

: just keep it low profile and do not do it to the point of making the company lose a lot of money...

: legend has it that someone from MIT attempted to turn himself in for software piracy. he said that he felt guilty for finding out that he had a pirated copy of ms-office on his computer. he called the software piracy hotline, who referred him to the local police, who referred him the state office, who referred him to the local courts, who referred him to microsoft.

: The student's point in making the home made video is that nobody really cares much about software piracy as long as it does not get to the point wherein the company loses money for its intellectual property. So if you wanna use the same copy of software...go ahead!... just dont do it to often and try to do it for "educational purposes" only.

: ps. if you win an award, go buy several copies.

i got to kinda agree with anton here. i think someone made a comparison before between software piracy and walking into a cvs and putting a candy bar in youre pocket. technically it is illegal. but does anyone here have actual severe moral problems with it? will you go to hell for it? very doubtful. for that matter, can anyone here honestly say theyve never pocketed a candy bar from that counter at cvs?
its similar to napster. trading mp3s there is technically illegal, but nobody except metallicas lars ulrich, whos being a penny grubbing millionaire sellout and alienating half of his fan base, are even trying to do anything about it. why? cuz its so small scale and petty.
i say as long as you arent using it for personal gains or profits copyright infringement isnt too bad...its wrong, but just barely...its more neutral then anything.
im rambling now so ill go
its just my opinion...to each theyre own
mike
