If you can convince yourself that it is OK to use someone's property and it will not hurt them, then why not at least ask them if it is OK? Why don't you convince AutoDesk that it will not hurt them and ask if they would give you a time-limited demo copy for you to learn on?

Or, write them a letter explaining why you think that if you make a copy of their software for personal use it will not affect them in any way. And ask them to explain to you why they think that it WILL affect them. They just might agree with you and let you do it. If not, at least you will understand their point of view.

: i think that having illegal software isn't bad if you're not going to use it for personal gains... if you're an engineering company and you go and download 50 copies of autocad, and make thousands of dollars from it, it's wrong... but if you're a kid(like i am), you're probably not going to use it for anything other than learning how to use the software. either that, or you're going to just play around with it. I can say myself, that i'd never go into a store and spend a thousand dollars to "mess around" with 3d studio max, or inventor, or cad. Does it hurt the company in any way if someone steals a copy of that company's software if the company was never going to make anything from the person anyway??? what do you think, i think no.
