Team 459 is also missing parts
we only havea couple of pneumatic parts
this is sad though because it (the missing of parts in kits) has gone on and gotten worse. also the qualty of the parts have gone down quite dramticly.
you would think that first could do better?

No seat motors, though we do have the flexible shafts. Also - worried about the durability of the plastic gearboxes, some of them had damaged out of the box.

Are there seat motors - I see seat motor flex shafts - but I don't have them and I don't see them on the latest parts list.

So if this is right all the supplied motors require PWMs except the window motors.
So you should only need 7 PWMs if you use every legal motor.

We have the same problem. I sent a message to FIRST listing all of the parts that we don't have that they didn't reference in the update. We'll see what they say on the matter...

This is not the case. The manual originally had the 883's on the restricted parts list but the update made a point of "DELETE"ing all of those entries throughout the book.

I think your interpretation of the 'restricted parts list' is different that its intention. You should think of it more like you are restricted in size or quantity of the item rather than it is not able to be used at all. According to the Flowchart, if an electrical item is NOT listed in the restricted parts list, it routes you to the NO it can not be used decision. So Victor 883 are not to be used this year. I would order some 884 ASAP since 800 teams needing say 4 each will probably cause some delays.

Hmm...that is quite annoying... I guess we'll find out. I was planning on ordering extra 884's anyway, just to have.

Yes it is quite annoying, I sent FIRST a message asking for better clarification in an update since many teams are thinking about it the same way that you are.

Here is the rule that is in question

K2
The Restricted Parts List must be reviewed when selecting “additional components” for use on the robot. If a part falls into one of the listed categories, then carefully review the items in the category to determine whether or not it is allowed. If a part category does not list the part you wish to use, then it is not allowed. If a part does not fall into any of the categories in the Restricted Parts List, then it is allowed. Additional components may be obtained from any supplier, unless otherwise
specified.

In the example speed controllers fall into the Electrical 'category' and since the Victor 883 is no longer there, it is no longer allowed.
I hope FIRST clears this up soon, even some of my teammates are reading it incorrectly

We got the same thing, but we used it as a guide for cutting our 1/4 aluminum sheeting. lol

My team was absolutely delighted to receive the last of our EDUbot equipment today - more than a full week after the start of the competition. *grumble*

Do you mean to say that we are supposed to use the OI and Joysticks supplied with the EDUbot? We are missing enough other controlsys-related parts that this sounds a little suspicious.

There was a white note with each EDU robot stating not to ruin or lose the control system, joysticks, or modem because they are for your 2003 ROBOT also.
