Darryl Worley: Have You Forgotten?
-------------------- I hear people saying we don't need this war I say- There's some things worth fighting for. What about our freedom? and this piece of ground? We didn't get to keep them by backing down. Now they say we don't realize the mess we're getting in But before you start your preaching, let me ask you this my friend: Have you forgotten how it felt that day, To see your homeland under fire, and her people blown away? Have you forgotten how those towers fell, We had neighbors still inside going through a living hell? And you say we shouldn't worry about bin Laden- Have you forgotten? You took all the footage off of my TV. Said it's too disturbing for you and me. It'll just breed anger- that's what the experts say. If it was up to me, I'd show it every day. Some say this country's just out looking for a fight but after 9-11 I'd have to say that's right. Have you forgotten how it felt that day to see your homeland under fire, her people blown away? Have you forgotten how those towers fell- we had neighbors still inside going through a living hell. And you say we shouldn't worry about bin Laden- Have you forgotten? Now I've been there with the soldiers who've gone away to war And you can bet that they remember just what they're fighting for. Have you forgotten all the people killed- some went down as heroes in that Pennsylvania field. Have you forgotten about our Pentagon? All the loved ones that we lost, and those left to carry on. Don't you tell me not to worry about bin Laden- Have you forgotten, how it felt that day? To see your homeland under fire, her people blown away? Have you forgotten when those towers fell? That we had people still inside going through a living hell. And you say we shouldn't worry about bin Laden- Have you forgotten? |

here's a classic by Tom Jones...ahh...those wonderful Oldies. :
I saw the light on the night that I passed by her window I saw the flickering shadows of love on her blind She was my woman As she deceived me I watched and went out of my mind My, my, my, Delilah Why, why, why, Delilah I could see, that girl was no good for me But I was lost like a slave that no man could free At break of day when that man drove away, I was waiting I cross the street to her house and she opened the door She stood there laughing I felt the knife in my hand and she laughed no more My, my, my, Delilah Why, why, why, Delilah So before they come to break down the door Forgive me Delilah, I just couldn't take anymore She stood there laughing I felt the knife in my hand and she laughed no more My, my, my, Delilah Why, why, why, Delilah So before they come to break down the door Forgive me Delilah I just couldn't take anymore Forgive me Delilah I just couldn't take anymore so Delilah.. I love you |

I originally posted something a little more contraversial, but decided to go with Classic Simon and Garfunkel it's a mix of two very different songs that overlap, the main song and the background song
Scarbourough Fair / Canticle Are you going to Scarborough Fair: Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme. Remember me to one who lives there. She once was a true love of mine. (in the background){ On the side of a hill in the deep forest green. Tracing of sparrow on snow-crested brown. Blankets and bedclothes the child of the mountain Sleeps unaware of the clarion call. Tell her to make me a cambric shirt:} Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme; Without no seams nor needle work, Then she'll be a true love of mine. (in the background){ On the side of a hill a sprinkling of leaves. Washes the grave with silvery tears. A soldier cleans and polishes a gun. Sleeps unaware of the clarion call.} Tell her to find me an acre of land: Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme; Between the salt water and the sea strand, Then she'll be a true love of mine. (in the background){ War bellows blazing in scarlet battalions. General order their soldiers to kill. And to fight for a cause they've long ago forgotten.} Tell her to reap it with a sickle of leather: Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme; And gather it all in a bunch of heather, Then she'll be a true love of mine. yeah it's bad syntax but I've always been a messy programmer Last edited by Scottie2Hottie : 07-03-2003 at 09:14. |

Song #2
I'm sorry, I just love music too much, so you get more songs... I couldn't resist
Bob Dylan stuff: Come gather 'round people Wherever you roam And admit that the waters Around you have grown And accept it that soon You'll be drenched to the bone. If your time to you Is worth savin' Then you better start swimmin' Or you'll sink like a stone For the times they are a-changin'. Come writers and critics Who prophesize with your pen And keep your eyes wide The chance won't come again And don't speak too soon For the wheel's still in spin And there's no tellin' who That it's namin'. For the loser now Will be later to win For the times they are a-changin'. Come senators, congressmen Please heed the call Don't stand in the doorway Don't block up the hall For he that gets hurt Will be he who has stalled There's a battle outside And it is ragin'. It'll soon shake your windows And rattle your walls For the times they are a-changin'. Come mothers and fathers Throughout the land And don't criticize What you can't understand Your sons and your daughters Are beyond your command Your old road is Rapidly agin'. Please get out of the new one If you can't lend your hand For the times they are a-changin'. The line it is drawn The curse it is cast The slow one now Will later be fast As the present now Will later be past The order is Rapidly fadin'. And the first one now Will later be last For the times they are a-changin'. |

First I'd like to say thanks for all the great lyrics, this thread had brightened my morning! Now for anyone who wants to sing to me, here are the words...
Roxanne You don't have to put on the red light Those days are over You don't have to sell your body to the night Roxanne You don't have to wear that dress tonight Walk the streets for money You don't care if it's wrong or if it's right Roxanne You don't have to put on the red light I loved you since I knew you I wouldn't talk down to you I have to tell you just how I feel I won't share you with another boy I know my mind is made up So put away your make up Told you once I won't tell you again It's a bad way Roxanne You don't have to put on the red light Roxanne You don't have to put on the red light ![]() |

D.J. Fluck...
I have to say that I LOVE your taste!!! The Clash is one of the greatest bands of all time. Unfortunately so few people know of them know. London Calling is an amazing song, but my personal fav is Know Your Rights (off Combat Rock). |

Now, after reading though this thread, I had to go get out my Nickel Creek cd and listen to Lighthouse. Aye, a great song it is.
I have two songs: This song will lift your spirits...It brings back memories of my spring break sailing trip in the Floridia Keys: Jimmy Buffett - Southern Cross Got out of town on a boat to the southern islands, Sailing a reach before a followin' sea. She was makin' for the trades on the outside, And the downhill run to Papeete Bay. Off the wind on this heading lie the Marquesas. We got eighty feet of waterline Nicely making way. In a noisy bar in Avalon I tried to call you, But on a midnight watch I realized why twice you ran away. Think about how many times I have fallen. Spirits are using me, larger voices callin'. What Heaven brought you and me cannot be forgotten. I have been around the world, Lookin' for that woman, girl, Who knows love can endure, And you know it will (and you know it will). When you see the Southern Cross for the first time, You understand now why you came this way, 'Cause the truth you might be runnin' from is so small, But it's as big as the promise, the promise of a coming day. So I'm sailing for tomorrow, my dreams are a-dyin', And my love is an anchor tied to you, tied with a silver chain. I have my ship and all her flags are a-flyin'. She is all that I have left and music is her name. Think about how many times I have fallen. Spirits are using me, larger voices callin'. What Heaven brought you and me cannot be forgotten. I have been around the world, Lookin' for that woman, girl, Who knows love can endure, And you know it will (and you know it will). So we cheated and we lied and we tested, And we never failed to fail, it was the easiest thing to do. You will survive being bested, But somebody fine will come along make me forget about loving you At the Southern Cross And, I have to put in Garth Brooks - The Dance. What a great song that is. Looking back on the memory of The dance we shared 'neath the stars alone For a moment all the world was right How could I have known that you'd ever say goodbye And now I'm glad I didn't know The way it all would end the way it all would go Our lives are better left to chance I could have missed the pain But I'd of had to miss the dance Holding you I held everything For a moment wasn't I a king But if I'd only known how the king would fall Hey who's to say you know I might have chanced it all And now I'm glad I didn't know The way it all would end the way it all would go Our lives are better left to chance I could have missed the pain But I'd of had to miss the dance Yes my life is better left to chance I could have missed the pain but I'd of had to miss the dance Bill B. |

Everyone might think this song and others by John Mayer are played out, but most people have a tendency to not listen to the real lyrics. I love this song, and every time I get down or feel like I have the whole world on my shoulders, I listen to this.
Why Georgia - John Mayer I am driving up 85 in the Kind of morning that lasts all afternoon Just stuck inside the gloom Four more exits to my apartment but I am tempted to keep the car in drive And leave it all behind Cause I wonder sometimes about the outcome of a still verdictless life Am I living it right? (3x) Why Georgia, why? I rent a room and I fill the spaces with Wood in places to make it feel like home But all I feel's alone It might be a quarter life crisis Or just the stirring in my soul Either way, I wonder sometimes about the outcome of a still verdictless life Am I living it right? (3x) Why Georgia, why? So what? So I've got a smile on But it's hiding the quiet superstitions in my head Don't believe me when I say I've got it down Everybody is just a stranger but that's the danger in going my own way I guess it's the price I have to pay Still "everything happens for a reason", And it's no reason not to ask myself If I am living it right (3x) Why Georgia, why? |

Linkin Park - Numb on Meteora track #13
I'm tired of being what you want me to be Feeling so faithless Lost under the surface I don't know what you're expecting of me Put under the pressure Of walking in your shoes [Caught in the undertow Just caught in the undertow] Every step that I take is Another mistake to you [Caught in the undertow Just caught in the undertow] I've Become so numb I can't feel you there Become so tired So much more aware I'm becoming this All I want to do Is be more like me And be less like you Can't you see that you're smothering me Holding too tightly Afraid to lose control 'Cause everything that you thought I would be Has fallen apart right in front of you [Caught in the undertow Just caught in the undertow] Every step that I take is Another mistake to you [Caught in the undertow Just caught in the undertow] And every second I waste Is more then I can take I've Become so numb I can't feel you there Become so tired So much more aware I'm becoming this All I want to do Is be more like me And be less like you And I know I may end up failing too But I know You were just like me With someone disappointed in you I've Become so numb I can't feel you there Become so tired So much more aware I'm becoming this All I want to do Is be more like me And be less like you I've Become so numb I can't feel you there Tired of being what you want me to be I've Become so numb I can't feel you there Tired of being what you want me to be |

The Offspring - All I Want
ya, ya, ya, ya, ya
Day after day Your home life's a wreck The powers that be just breathe down your neck You get no respect You get no relief You gotta speak up and yell out your peace Chorus: So back off your rules Back off your jive Cause I'm sick of not living To stay alive Leave me alone I'm not asking a lot Just don't want to be controlled It's all I want It's all I want It's all I want It's all I want ya, ya, ya, ya, ya How many times is it gonna take Til someone around you hears what you say You've tried being cool You feel like a lie You've played by the rules Now it's their turn to try Chorus I've said it before I'll say it again If you could just listen then it might make sense Chorus Ya, Ya, Ya, Ya, Ya -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= This is prolly one of my favorite songs, it has a great beat to it, and heck, its Offspring, why would you NOT like it? |

My 2nd husband and I have six kids, six grandkids, my 11yo stepdaughter is best friends with my 10yo stepgranddaughter, we have 3 teens still at home. My husband's 8 years younger than I am, my son's wife is 8 years older than he is, all different religions...
our very eclectic family made this crazy lively song a tradition on car trips... Written by H. Dietz and A. Schwartz Synth arrangement and programming - Jai Winding © 1937 (Renewed) Chappell & Co./Arthur Schwartz Music Ltd. administered by Bienstock Publishing Companyu a div. of Carlin America, Inc. (ASCAP) All Rights Reserved. Used by Permission. Three little unexpected children simultaneously The Doctor brought us and you can see There will be three forever ending E I O You wouldn't know how agonizing Being triplets can be Each one is individually the victom Of that clinical day E I O Every summer we go away to Baden, Baden, Baden Every winter we come back home to Wah - wah - wah - wah - wah - wah We do everything alike We look alike, we dress alike We walk alike, we talk alike And what is more we hate each other very much We hate our folks, we're sick of jokes And what an art it is to tell us apart If one of us gets the measels The other one gets the measels Then all of us gets the measels and mumps and flu Now and then we have a fight, a little fight We throw our food and pull our hair And scratch each other and bite Mrs. Hildendorfer loves to talk to Mrs. Goldenwasser Of the day she went to Sloan's and had her Silly Willy Mrs. Hossenkupel loves to talk to Mrs. Elderspritzel Of her major operation when she had her twins But when Mother comes along she silences the others She accomplished something that is very rare in Mothers For example just to prove that she was more than ample She admits Lane Bryant thought that they were Measuring a giant Dr. Heimedanner almost lost his bedside manner On the day that he first looked upon us three We do everything alike We look alike, we dress alike We walk alike, we talk alike And what is more we hate each other very much We hate our folks, we're sick of jokes and what an art it is to tell us apart We eat the same kind of vittles We drink from the same kind of bottles We sit in the same kind of high chair, high chair, high chair Mamma says tha we're a bore And what is more she didn't want to have us and And we didn't want to have her No more this recording doesn't do it justice |

If I follow along Does it mean I'm along? If I follow along Does it mean I'm along? Or will I keep feeling different from everybody else? If I sing a song Will you sing along? Bring me to life By: Evanescence
How can you see into my eyes like open doors. Leading you down into my core where I've become so numb. Without a soul my spirit's sleeping somewhere cold until you find it there and lead it back home. Chorus: (Wake me up. Wake me up inside. I can't wake up. Wake me up inside. Save me. Call my name and save me from the dark. Wake me up. Bid my blood to run. I can't wake up. Before I come undone. Save me. Save me from the nothing I've become.) Now that I know what I'm without you can't just leave me. Breathe into me and make me real Bring me to life. [Chorus] Bring me to life. I've been living a lie There's nothing inside. Bring me to life. Frozen inside without your touch, without your love, darling. Only you are the life among the dead. All of this sight I can't believe I couldn't see Kept in the dark but you were there in front of me I've been sleeping a 1000 years it seems. I've got to open my eyes to everything. Without a thought Without a voice Without a soul Don't let me die here There must be something wrong. Bring me to life. [Chorus] Bring me to life. I've been living a lie There's nothing inside. Bring me to life |

Persona- Blue Man Group
Ever morning I put it on. I walk outside and I am gone And I don't seem mind anymore I can't think it was like before I wore it all the time U-ah U-ah In the evening I take it off but there's another one underneight And I can't seem to find The bottom of the stack I might just loose my mind and never get it back but atleast I'll get inside u-ah u-ah Atleast I'll get inside There's a feeling I get sometimes It's so small It's easy to hide It's like a howling voice from a distant past It seems I've got no choice when it comes to this It's building up inside u-ah u-ah It's building up inside |

Thought I'd post another favorite.
The Police - Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic Though I've tried before to tell her Of the feelings I have for her in my heart Every time that I come near her I just lose my nerve As I've done from the start Every little thing she does is magic Everything she do just turns me on Even though my life before was tragic Now I know my love for her goes on Do I have to tell the story Of a thousand rainy days since we first met It's a big enough umbrella But it's always me that ends up getting wet Every little thing she does is magic Everything she do just turns me on Even though my life before was tragic Now I know my love for her goes on I resolve to call her up a thousand times a day And ask her if she'll marry me in some old fashioned way But my silent fears have gripped me Long before I reach the phone Long before my tongue has tripped me Must I always be alone? Every little thing she does is magic Everything she do just turns me on Even though my life before was tragic Now I know my love for her goes on |
