And for domination, yes American cars have muscle but for performance and longivity of a car Germans have us beat. Most German cars are being built with a turbo or super charged engine. American cars are still just engines, and yeah so what if Chrysler has a V-12, (who are also owned by Mercedes) will it hold together after the first hundred thousand miles? Highly doubt it. |

ARe you forgetting chrysler just came out with Turbo and Dodge now has the hemi. All American cars hold togethter good. Plus if you are looking at pricing. I would take a Dodge Viper over a Ferrari everday. Two reasons. YOu are getting the same kind of luxury out of both cars except the Viper is 20,000 less. Second when you need to fix a Ferrari its gonna cost alot more to fix it then it would a viper. because they need to ship int he parts. Same with any car bmw, mercedes. Bascially when you are paying that much you are paying for the name

1st off - the Viper is not powered by a V-12. It's a V-10. It's a 8.3 (505 cu) Naturally Aspirated 500 HP, 525 ft/lb torque. The triple 500s. Show me another manufacture that can pull that off w/o any turbos or anything. If you wanna get nasty - get the Viper Hennessey Venom 800 Twin Turbo. Twin turbo added to that V-10 - will smoke just about anything that those foreign people can throw at it. (800 HP and 800 ft/lbs of torque at the rear wheels!!) - $127,225 *including* price of Viper. Who else can pull that off? Not Ferrari, or any other company that I can think off... (at only 14 lbs of boost it can run the 1/4 mile in 10.0 seconds...) The average life for the turbo engine is 100,000 before any major rebuilds WITH the twin turbo. (lets see some other company do that...) 2nd - What is in the Viper that was engineered by Mercedes? Not a darn thing. The Viper is still 100% American designed. As for the new Chrysler 300 C that has the Mercedes five-speed automatic, as well as a Mercedes steering system, seat structures, electronic architecture, many suspension components and a basic design from the Mercedes E-class, it's still an American car. It's engineering and parts usage is from Germany - but they had to make it fit into the American way. 3rd - If you wish to argue - PM or IM me - I'll be glad to argue. CD.com is meant for fun and all we have been doing is arguing and taking up valuable pixel space... I'm out. |

[EDIT] I kinda didnt read the whole thread before I posted this, obviously that Viper will beat it Have Clark show you the pic of this super sweet vette'. 0-60 in 1.25 sec, 0-100 in 4.something sec. Id like to see a ferrari or rice rocket beat that. Heck, Id like to see just about anything beat that(cars of course, I know some of you clever people will try to tell me a missile or a bullet can beat it ) and for 160k? cant beat it in price eitherCory Last edited by Cory : 10-06-2003 at 19:03. |

All i can say is that "2 Fast 2 Furious" was HORRIBLE!!! I mean I work at a movie theater so i know from movies, and that movie made Blair Witch 2 look like a fine piece of cinematic art, and that isn't an easy task!!! I mean the first one was ok but this one is a huge steaming pile of bull plop!!! I pity anyone who wasted two hours of their lives to see that poor excuse of a movie.

I liked the first one, it was pretty much fluff, but it was still fun to watch.
The second was pretty crappy. It was all fluff, but even less attention was paid to making it almost maybe believable. If your going to make a movie about street racers, how about including some more street racing instead of those obnoxious highway scenes? -Andy A. |

Now I thought that the second one was much better than the first one. I like the idea that things happened that weren't expected. Like the ejection seat thing and the scene where the trucks came out of the garage smashing the cop cars followed by hundreds of street racing cars.
I was also confused about the definition of a ten second car. |

For racing/entertainment value Fast And the Furious, and 2 Fast 2 Furious were good movies. The race scenes were tight and the cars were really nice. My main problem with the movie is that it shows street racing in a positive positive light. Until you have seen someone literally cut in half by an illegal street race and have them die on you, you don't realize how messed up and dangerous street racing really is. Therefore, I enjoyed the movie, not the message behind it.
Robot180: A 10 second car is one that can do the quarter mile in 10 seconds. |

That's what I thought. My brother said that it means that the car can accelerate to its max speed in under ten seconds. I didn't think that was true. It doesn't make sense.

I just showed my brother this thread and he doesn't believe all of you. He says that they say that in the movie, but a ten second car really means that a car can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in ten seconds. Can someone research that and let me know which of us is right?

I gave up my prom night so I can drag strip (I'm proud of that) and if they say that "You have a 10 second" car - you can go 1/4 of a mile in 10 seconds in your vehicle. I'll get you your research... Hang on... (If a car can go from 0-150+ in 10 seconds w/o breaking the tires - please show me...) Edit: Show your brother (or who ever) this page. Let him tell you with a straight face that those speeds are the fastest those cars can do. Here is the link Last edited by Matt Attallah : 11-06-2003 at 23:32. |

Dude, I can get a golf cart from 0-60 in 10 seconds (Well not really, but you get the point) if you did 0-60 in ten seconds, your car sucks to put it bluntly.
