Dean makes appearence at Indy School

I don't know how many of you in Indiana know this but Dean Kamen recently made an appearence at a high school in the central Indiana area. He visited rookie Team 868 Delphi Automotive & Carmel High School Carmel , IN just last week. He was at the Delphi plant in Anderson (i think ) working on something with the segway because Delphi has some parts in it.

All you guys from Indy, do you realize how close we were to being able to meet Dean? Oh well, it's nice to see that Dean is taking the time to visit FIRST schools.

David who is REALLY disappointed that Dean didn't come to see his team .

Closer connection than u think......

That's very cool.....also our executive sponser from Delphi was part of a Segway design team here at the Delphi plant in Kokomo...

It's pretty cool to know someone who actually helped with the Segway...

(edit: If anyone wants a better quality pic to read just IM me at twinattack )

A bunch of kids on my team were pleasantly surprised this weekend with a Dean-spotting a local mall while they were Christmas shopping, he was scooting around the mall on his Segway attracting quite a crowd I guess... wish I had gone shopping 3 hours earlier that day

I'm sure he's been to Delphi quite a few different times for things similar to the Segway....who knows what else they may be working.....

Dean and some of his other engineers had been in Kokomo a year or so ago to check out our gyro devices. I think another supplier was used, but I heard that support for FIRST teams helped get Delphi Kokomo the chance to make the sales pitch for the gyros.

Yep

Dean has come to Kokomo a few times... all on Segway/IBOT business.

He has been working with Delphi engineers for about 2 years on the Segway electronics that Delphi is providing. We've tried to get him to stay long enough for a visit with the TechnoKats, but it has never worked out. (Don't worry, DJ, I've not met him in Kokomo either).

Delphi is providing both the instrument cluster (stuff on the handle bar) and the main electronics board, which is positioned underneath the platform. Both of these products are being made at the Delphi-D plant in Flint, Michigan.
