What are teams looking for in alliance partners??

Hey, I was just wondering what everyone was looking for as far as alliance partners go. So what kinda robot is everyone looking for?

It's not really how well a robot does in competition that makes them a great choice, but whether they're consistent at what they do best, and if that objective complements what your team is good at.

A team made to protect stacks and build up the stacks reliablly would be really helpful to other robots, since most robots are going to be all-around and may not be specialized for stacking or protecting the stacks for points.

an outrageous yet consistently designed robot.

if it can stack 18 high or push all 29 bins that would be awesome...but don't make it where the planets have to be correctly aligned and you have to hold your tongue right for it to happen.

consistency and reliability are big factors in partnerships.

Talking Partners

A good partner is one that is consistant in what he or she suppose to do. A good driver and team. You don't want a partner that goes on his own and does his own thing. Cooperation with the team is a must.

We tend to look for someone who has fairly descent standings for our first pick, and then our second pick is usually from the bottom third or so. Any team that makes our 'list' of choices has to show dependability and durability during their qualifying matches, and have a co-operative floor team.

No matter whom may end up being our partner, we will try our best to compete with the best two of three teams in our alliance... meaning, if we think our third partner will do it's best with our second partner, then as alliance captains we will pull ourselves from a match in the finals for that purpose.

Probably the best strategy for the finals will be to get all the bins and defend them. Don't worry about stacks. If you can keep all the bins on your side and one of their bots off the platform (or one of yours on), you win. No need to stack or anything. I think the alliances will consist of high-torque plows. Just a guess.

but for that theres the initial problem of getting all the bins. if all finalists are snowplow bots, we're just going to end up with cracked bins in the middle of the field.

i'm thinking some sort of utility bot and high torque bot would be ideal. one to fight over bins, another to stack bins/defend previously stacked bins.

but thats just me

The motto Team 64 lives by is very simple, "We will do what we say or leave parts of our robot laying all over the field trying!"

Partners need to be honest in what they can and cannot accomplish.

i defiantly agree that a partner has to do what they say they can do. I also think that things might change for the choice of robot that will be desirable at the competitions when we are at the competitions because nothing is sure about how things will play out till the competition.

it also sounds like not too many teams are stackers? hmmmmmm
