You have got to be kidding me

I would love to see some of the mechanics behind those arms if they work!

All I have to say is wow. That is very impressive. I too would love to see the mechanics behind that thing.

Thumbs up

Oh, they work, all right. Our robot might not be able to stack as high as many of the others I've seen posted, but we're confident that we can pick up and orient boxes in any position. Our main problem is that we can't go under the bar, and it looks like stackers are going to have to be able to do that in order to win.

I love Google

Did a little searching and looked in the background of this picture and this is what I came up with.

Any similarities between team 118's robot and the one featured in that webpage are... *ahem*... purely coincidental.

thats odd, i could have sworn i saw that robot in a robot book, except it was a NASA prototype robot they want to use in repairing space stations and what not. Just a coincidence im sure. (sarcastic litle punk, aren't I?)

Yeah, that and the fact that you blow through the weight limit about eight times over...

The thing that really impresses me is that they were able to do all that with only $400 worth of additional electronics!

Actually, I am willing to forgive all those other little violations just because they took the time to annodize it and make it look so pretty! (and, yes, EVERYONE has already noticed how much it looks like Bobba Fett, so you don't need to point it out...)

$400 of electronics? I thought that was the allotment for cable ties and kapton tape! Well, scratch that idea.

In the meantime, check out Immobilus, team 118's offering for 2003.

It's big, and it knocks down boxes, and it gets to the top of the ramp, and it's a sight to behold. And it keeps you off the ramp. At least, that's the idea.
