hey i'm jack from team 126, recently i've been attempting to start a FIRST team at a local highschool. i was wondering if anybody had any suggestions regarding how to go about recruiting businesses to be a possible major sponsor. we've already got a highschool in line, actually leominster highschool in massachusetts was the school in mind. if anyone has ever started a team before or has any advice on how to develop an interest in possible sponsors minds, please e-mail me at jackle133@aol.com or please post a follow up.
thanx,
Jack Wilson.
(GO GAEL FORCE)

couple ideas-

1-primarily, talk to your sponsor company and see if they know any businesses in that area you can contact

2- contact the Chamber of Commerce for that town. They may only have the listings for the smaller businesses, but those guys are usually willing to support it

3- talk to the school. they may already have some 'partnerships' set up with companies.. see who they know

4- you can hit the yellow pages too.. find some industry in that area (i hear leominster is home to those plastic lawn flamingos)

5- get the right info out to these people.. i have a lot of informational stuff Lori gave us for BostonFIRST to help with promotion.. we have general info and then pamphlets specifically geared towards high schools, colleges, or companies. i'm more than happy to give you some and help you get it out.. (that goes for anyone else as well..)
