You hit the nail on the head right there.

That is what FIRST is about- it's not about winning. It's about fun, learning, and learning to love technology.

You don't need Disneyworld to do that.. for that matter you don't even need a competition- you just need to participate in building..

And why can't you do that at a regional. You can, just easily and, as most of us in FIRST would say, to a great level.

I love Disneyworld- but I'd much rather a regional because of the atmosphere. But that's all social and truly irrelevent. The process itself is not hindered by lack of a Championship experience.

It doesn't change any of the late nights in the shop. It doesn't change "righty-tighty, lefty-loosey"; it doesn't effect how a mill or a lathe will work nor will it effect how well your robot works at the end of the 6 weeks. Or the blood, sweat, and tears you put in to that beauty. And most of all it doesn't change what you learn or the experience you have. Those engineers that help you are still your heroes. They still can do amazing things, and so can each and every student.

And no one needs Disneyworld to tell them that. Just look around you.
