On the same topic, a few of us in GRT is interested in putting together a scouting database at the actual Silicon Valley regional competition itself. Mean while, Joe Ross from team 330 Beachbot is also working on a similar system at the SoCal regional at LA, so we will be helping them out as well.

So far, nothing is set yet, but if it works out fine, there will be a small LAN where teams can bring in their computer and hook it up. Then, the Database itself will be filled with actual information of the games, indicating what robot did what during which match. This way, the database will be reflecting the actual performance of each robot. Each team can download the data from the database and use them during competition before each match starts to help planning the game.

Hopefully, there will be GRT members constantly watching the games and record each match. But other teams can always help out by doing some of the scouting.

For other system such as the 2001 McKinley Scouting Page, we will probably ask for their permission to include their data into the database, so that they can be shared and accessed during competition. After all, the point of creating all these online scouting pages is to share the information. So, this will just be an attempt to gather everything for competition usage. If any of those pages do not feel comfortable to be part of this, it is understandable and respected.

We might be able to print out paper copy of robots information in case teams can't bring computers to competition.

As of now, nothing is set. We will need to work out the details. So, Please wait for further posting related to this scouting database. Any suggestion is welcome.
