How many comp's did u attend? / The condition of last year's bot?

well since this is a two sided question...the first is the poll part of it...

how many FIRST sponsored competitions did ur team attend and how many post-season competitions / preseason competitions does ur team plan to attend with the old robot...

this leads into the second part...if u have attended multiple competitions what is the current condition of ur robot...how is the drive trains motors...how is the exterior of the robot? etc. etc...the robot cant be in the same condition as when u shipped it for ur first competition...or it could be...is it as strong as when u shipped it?....as fast?...

We went to J&J Mid Atlantic Regional (5 qualifying points in one weekend! YEAH! We then went to Nationals!

We attended the PARC (every year!). We are now preparing for the NASA/MD State Fair Competition. We are planning on attending another competition this fall, probably the DuPont/MOE competition in October, eventhough our drivers can't go.

We held up ok through the FIRST competitions, obviously to do that well you have to keep running. At PARC we had a minor problem, but just something that needed to be checked that was over looked. Right now we need to work on the one drill motor before NASA.

well, you missed one option on the poll. what about 3 FIRST, no off-season? since 810 was a rookie team, we had no idea about any off-season stuff, and by the time we figured it out, it was too late to plan it all.

conditions of the robot, hmm. well, the motors are still running perfectly, chain is a bit looser, but still stays on (oh yes, i have a thing against chains from this year), the tires are all destroyed, but that's our fault (screws in the tire DO NOT prolong tire life), the treads are faded, a bit thinner, but overall intact, the extrusion was loose (we fixed it!) and the paint all scratched, and carpet fuzz all over everything (our bot was a lint magnet). actually, if you want to see some bad pics of how our robot looks, go here...

Ian's Robot Pics

that should work, i cna't check it from here because the stupid proxy server blocks it (i have no idea why). shows the condition of parts of the robot before and after cleaning. in general, the robot is ever bit as robust as it was, and it still does what i want it to do. it is a very well design (thanks michael! ) and it lasted, and it will last, a very long time, or at least that's my plan. i want to hang it in the science research room at my school .

1 FIRST, 2 off season
still as fast, still as strong, still as good lookin'.
Only one small battlescar from CVHS 589.
We had massive drill clutch problems before any competitions but they were all worked out.
Our pre-comp. event we stripped gears and had to remove our chiaphuas and make it wth only drills.
Drill couplers unscrewed twice over the season but that is it. No other problems whatsoever. Very rugged beast.
We also pulled a ford ranger ext cab and the drive train didn't cry a bit which is remarkable having only 2 drill motors driving.

2 FIRST/ 3+ off season

UTC regional
Nationals

Rally in the vally
Mayhem on the merrimack
Battle Cry III
River rage( Has'nt happend yet but we are going)

Our drive system is just as strong as ever
Our goal grabbing flaps are torn to hell there bent and all scratched up

We are still really strong maybe stronger than when we shipped cause we forgot to like sync up the speed controlers and then we did something to the motors to make them run better or soemthing I'm not really sure cause the kid who did it is not good at explaining things.

Exclamation You overlooked one category...

...the little-known "4 FIRST" and its variations. A small number of teams attended four FIRST events this past season.

Team 48 went to the Buckeye and Canadian Regionals, as well as the Championship Event. No offseason events for us...yet (wish we could have attended the IRI!).

Xtremachen5 is still alive and kicking and could quickly return to competition-ready status with a little TLC.

we attended 2 regionals and nationals (was supposed to be 3 regionals) and we've attended Rally in the Valley, Mayhem on the Merrimack, and Battlecry so far.. with plans to head to Maryland State Fair, Riverrage, and Bash at the Beach still ahead.

Anyone at Mayhem and Battlecry knows that our robot has taken a beating and has a lot of spares on it (new wings, entire new front frame, new cables, etc). We haven't replaced any motors and all is still looking well in that department

But this year's robot has NOTHING on last year;s.... we're right about 70 appearances with Gompei2k1, including 8 competitions (7 FIRST/off-season last year, battlecry placebo this year). All the rubber is worn off the wheels, but that baby is still cruising. I don't think we've replaced a motor yet, and we've done very little body repair. And these are all 1hour+ demo's with at least 10 elementary/middle school kids driving it! They definitely don't go easy on it!...

And oh yeah, it's got at least another 20 hours of practice that have been done on it with our drivers...

It's much more interesting to demo with than 2k2 though, so we'll continue on using it... Gompei2k1 will never die

We attended the J&J Mid-Atlantic regional and plan to attend the Brunswick Eruption (for more info, go here ) in November. The Box is still in fine working condition, though all the aluminum body panels are fully scarred from battle (heh) it still runs and doesn't drag anything. It could use new panels cut and printed, but other than that she's strong as ever, still pushing everything in any direction *007, we need another rematch, best of three* and doin what the Box does best -- striking terror in the circuts of other bots.

Chuck's looking a bit worn but still running okay. Our tires are getting a bit smaller and the drill motor got messed up. The body of the bot looks like it has been in a war. Most of our sponsor stickers are being peeled or scraped off. One nice thing: we still have a bit of lime green paint left (note: we didn't paint our robot...who else uses lime green paint?)

Silver Scorpion lives.

We did the NJ Regional (2nd place), the Nationals (Archimedes div champs) and the PARC (1st place). I think we had a pretty good year.

We will be attending Duel on the Delaware in October (time for the great moestick showdown) and we are hosting the Brunswick Eruption off season competition on November 23rd- you all should come. (Check the off season comp. threads) It will be a good warm up for the 2003 season- the year of the ODD number teams!!!

The Silver Scorpion is still in great shape. We totally flatteded one of our fenders and had to replace it. Other than that it has a few dents and dings but the guys from BMS refuse to let us take them out. They say it makes the bot' look tough. We have had NO mechanical problems and very few human related ones (like not hooking up the battery cables right!).

We did the MMR and Nats, and then hit the IRI.

Theo is doing okay, the front support bars on it were replace once at MMR and once at Nationals. The drivetrain is suffering a bit, we had to tear apart gearboxes once at each competition and replace bearings. We broke 2 welds, and cracked a support frame piece, all happening in Evanston and being fixed in Orlando. Everything else is doing well, and in the shrine he sits.

2 FIRST, 2 off seasons thus far.

Overall, our 'bot is in pretty good shape. Drive system was bullet proof this year. The roller assembly needs a new FP motor, which we plan to drop in next week. We'll also probably replace our goal grabbers piston (it's been bent and set straight in a vice 5 times... the seals probably arn't in the best shape). The grasshopper on the side panels is looking pretty beat up, but it's all cosmetic. He's in need of a good overhaul, lots of small things are adding up, but nothing to difficult to fix.

This year we attended a scrimmage in Sussex Wisconsin, MMR, Nationals and IRI. TOBOR V ran pretty much the same throughout all 4 competitions. We broke a piece of out shielding at MMR, bent a drive shaft at Nationals and came out of all the competitions with a few 'battle scars' (the biggest being from 269 at IRI!!!) We had to do some matinence on the wheels at MMR (too much traction so we had to replace two fo our wheels) and at IRI (too little traction from the wheels being worn down at MMR and Nationals!) Other than that, TOBOR V has been in great condition the whole season, and currently runs like a charm!
