Dismantle Solenoid valve?

Posted by Josh Vetter at 1/24/2001 1:52 PM EST

Student on team #548, Robostangs, from Northville High School and BOSCH.

I was working on a mechanism to grab onto the rail of the goals, or the stretcher, and had a question. Does anyone know if we are allowed to dismantle the solenoid valve included in the pneumatic kit? I want to use the switching device from the valve to perform a different function on the goal-grabbing arm.
Thanks in advance for the help.
Josh Vetter

Well, I'd have to say no. Rule M15 in the manual says that "pneumatic components in the kit may not be modified except as follows:" and after that, it does NOT say you may modify the solenoids. The only exception being that you can modify the wiring so that it will interface with the control system.
Hope this helps,

Jason

Not the answer I was hoping for, but thanks anyways.
