breaking boxes

i couldn't find any mention in the rules, but what happens when a box gets broken? i saw a couple of forums where teams said the boxes break very easily, and one were first said they expected a lot of boxes to break during the competition....

do broken boxes count as boxes? if not, a team could go over, slam their stacker down on a box or two to mess up the score, and then just leave....
and if a broken box is put on a stack, will that mess up FIRST's beloved SHUs?

if a broken box makes it taller then the next SHU, then it counts, otherwise, it doesn't.

That is one reason that using height makes sense, because otherwise FIRST would have to define whether a broken box counted or not.

Unless they determine base score by total box weight they will still have to determine whether broken boxes count.

This scenario the team that slam's their stacker down would get a DQ for intentional damage to field material

good point, i forgot that.... still, if a robot could grap broken boxes, and stacked some of them, would they be counted as a full SHU, even if half of it is somewhere else? would the other half count as a base score box?

i think a broken box will be null'd but I expect this rule to be in next update.

Because if each piece is liable to be worth a point.. a shattered box on your side would give a huge point total. Just think..
2 SHU's x 60 box pieces

if, as i expect, FIRST does some new major rule change to box counting, and somehow each fragment can be worth a SHU, just put them in a pile and tada, 60 SHU times three boxes....

more than likely box pieces aren't counted, or are only counted if big enough to be stacked or something....

i'm giving up on the rable rousing post i've created, unless and until FIRST makes a comment
