Re: team 842 shooter test

Awesome prototype. Have you tried experimenting with spin? Any different trajectories with more / less consistency?

I think this kind of 4 wheel shooter made with kit frame is something very easy to test and make, and I hope a lot of teams have a good working prototype of their scoring concept by now. If not, this is certainly the place to start!

Re: team 842 shooter test

What motors are you using for the shooter? And what height is the hoop at?

Looks like a great prototype. Keep up the good work!

Re: team 842 shooter test

I feel like many others have come to the same conclusion as us: Slow, high angle, and lots of backspin.

We were using fisher-price motors with andymark transmissions belted to the wheel axles. I'm not sure what the pulleys were will have to double check. This test was to show how accurate we can be by shooting right next to the fender. We simulated our robot height and hoop height to match the scenario with our shooter being right below 60 inches and and the hoop being at 96 inches. Our roof isn't tall enough otherwise to make the test and it simplified things.

Re: team 842 shooter test

I think our team is going to do the same thing. But instead of having a wheal on top there is going to be a bar, so that the ball will get back spin.

Re: team 842 shooter test

In the video we were using cim motors, but we will be using fisher price motors. The Rpm range from 800 from the close low shot to 1800 for the far shot from the key. The wheels are six inch, but we are looking to go 4 inch to fit in our turret. We were using a servo tester to vary the speed

Re: team 842 shooter test

Nice to see that this design works scoring in a hoop. I think we're going to see a lot of shooters like this this year, based on CD posts so far.

Is each set of wheels driven independently here or are they chained together?
