Anyone have an idea if photo/video companies give discounts to FIRST teams?

Unless they're affiliated with FIRST, I wouldn't think so. It's like asking for discounted food from a grocery store because you're involved with FIRST.

You may want to go the direction of "student discounts."

Many companies will offer Student Discounts. Avid Editing Software offers student rates, as well as Adobe Products.

If you are looking for equipment you can call your local arts colleges and they may have old equipment available for you to use and write it off as a donation.

The actual cost of asking will almost always be less than the possible savings.

In other words, it doesn't hurt to ask. Just be prepared to explain what a "FIRST" is.
