FRC Michigan Question

Can anyone from Michigan tell me how selections are made for the FRC Michigan State Championship event? We finished the prelims at Kettering today in 32nd place but we finished the tournament on the 2nd place alliance. I am wondering if selection is made based on how well you do in prelims or how far you make it in district tournaments. Some of the students on my second year team asked me if we were now in a position to possibly go to the state event and realized that I had no idea because i did not expect to finish todays event in 2nd place.

Re: FRC Michigan Question

The FIRST in Michigan Rules Supplement says everything about how teams are ranked to go to States. You got 9 points from the qualification rounds, 3 points from the draft, and 16 points from eliminations, so that's 28 points. Not bad, but you will probably need to do well in your other competition in order to make the State Championship.

Re: FRC Michigan Question

Mid-Atlantic Robotics (MAR) adopted the District event format this year and is using the same qualifying format as Michigan. http://www.firstinmichigan.org/FRC_2...Supplement.pdf has the qualifying info on page 4.

To summarize, you get points for qualifying round wins and ties, alliance selections, elimination round points, and awards.

It is hard to judge what the cutoff for going to the state championship will be since it is the top X number of teams that qualify. I'm sure FIRST in Michigan has last year's results on their website to compare to. I would imagine the cutoff point will be similar.
