bag and tag tear

Hi all,

We just got back from the VA regional, and one of our ratchet straps broke and attacked our bag through the tarp. This left a pretty significant hole, and some smaller ones. The first thing we did was take pictures, and then taped and ziptied the holes shut. First thing Monday we are calling FIRST to clarify what we should do from here. Has anyone else been in this situation before? Did we do the right thing? Also we are attending a second regional..

I feel like what you did was the right response. Get in contact with FIRST as soon as possible; try tomorrow, even if you don't think anyone will pick up, then at least you tried. Do you have an extra bag? Maybe consider putting the ripped-bag robot in it and tagging it up in the meantime.

We look forward to seeing you guys in DC!

Re: bag and tag tear

Sam,
Are the holes large enough that someone could suspect you worked on the robot through the bag? If they are the size of the hold down strap and abrasive holes from jostling around you shouldn't have an issue. If they are really large, the pictures and a second bag (over the first and tagged and recorded) should clear up all doubt. I would expect that First is going to recommend that same course of action but checking with them is the best alternative.

Thank you all for your insight! And Simon the feeling is mutual! I believe David was on your team at one time, he moved down here and is a great member of the team!
