Pre-Scouting of all Divisions
I created a google doc earlier today for the curie division to get data on the teams in the division along with photos of each robot.
I have now created one for each division, I have filled out some of the information on some of the teams that I know off hand to give an idea of how this works. I have also filled in all of the OPR and triple balance information. Feel free to fill in any missing information and fix any incorrect data. Re: Pre-Scouting of all Divisions
You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to jblay again.
Thanks for organizing this, Joe! See you next week bud. |

I'm pretty excited to be on Curie with you Stogi, hopefully we get a match with your team at some point. |

Re: Pre-Scouting of all Divisions
Hey Joe, I know this may be a lot of work but, any chance you can throw into the spreadsheets the team names and average OPR?
It may be helpful as I know that I often can't remember a team number but the name jumps out to me. |

Re: Pre-Scouting of all Divisions
The OPR used; how is it calculated? By this I mean, how does the Co-Op bridge play into it? Is it the teams best event or an average? I would suggest using 1114's with the teams best event but I suppose it's up to you guys. I just think that best/latest event is the best measure of how good a team will be at Championships.

I agree that most recent data is most relevant, but for an impartial objective spreadsheet that is shared by multiple teams, it is probably better to go by overall data, rather than deciding to ignore some data, and presenting it to other teams. |

Re: Pre-Scouting of all Divisions
I can't believe how quickly these forms are being filled out. Curie already has all 100 teams orientation's filled out which was the original and main purpose of these sheets.

Re: Pre-Scouting of all Divisions
Crowd sourcing is awesome. What would you say to a column with "2012 record", "highest finish" and "highest draft position"?

If someone were to do it, though, I don't think it would be particularly hard. I believe that Ed Law's database already contains data like that sorted by team (although it may not be cumulative, but rather per regional/district). If you want to do it yourself, the gist of the process I used was to first sort the data into columns of text values (I had to create columns of the original values, and then input =TEXT(<cellref>,0) to do this), and then use VLOOKUP with a list of teams in said division to look up the corresponding stats. There is one thing I'd like to make a note of though. While I understand that everyone wants to contribute as much as they can to these spreadsheets - which is exactly what we want, after all - I've had to revert a number of changes (to the formulas that summarize/filter the data) recently, because the editor didn't properly assess the changes they made. Because of this, I'm requesting that people please refrain from editing the formulas in the current spreadsheets until they have tested the formula in a duplicate worksheet to ensure that it properly works. That being said, I really am amazed by how fast this has gone - once we figured out a way to display which teams didn't have data entered, the data for those teams was filled in within less than a day! As an aside about TFA, I'd just like to say that although it was a bit tricky to work with, it really helped me with adding OPR and CCWM to the spreadsheet. |

Re: Pre-Scouting of all Divisions
By bridge balance assister, the primary device for this is a stinger. 1501's platform is also included. Just as a general question, should anything that aids balancing be counted? My specific notions are to drive brakes and a swerve drive being able to shift their wheels perpendicular to the bridge to avoid sliding.
Thoughts? |

This is great! where did the data come from?

One other thing that might be worth noting is that some robots (see 4334 and 4001) are significantly shorter than a wide robot at ~21". Perhaps they could be labelled under-size bot.

Re: Pre-Scouting of all Divisions
Also, some long bots (like us) aren't the full 38 inches. Perhaps add a collumn for actual dimensions? Either way, thank you for this.
