Need Help fast on GM17
Posted by Harold Lawrence.
Other on team #458, RoboIndians, from Jefferson High School and NASA AMES. Posted on 4/1/2000 12:49 AM MST Rule GM17 states that human players returning balls to the playing field shall do so by 'throwing them over the front safety shield'. A couple of teams today during the NASA regional qualifiying matches extended their baskets to the top of the alliance station and placed all of the alliance balls into it. Then, they would then go straight to the goal and unload, scoring an instant 12 points. I don't call dribbling balls over the edge a throw. What do you think? Thanks, Harold |

The definition of throwing can mean many things. The amount of force, tragetery, movement as well as pushing. Lets not get so picky with the rules. Doing so would cause more problems than it would solve. In the three regionals we have been to the action of loading the basket has been acceptable and no official or team has brought up this question. |
