VELOCITY

Anybody know how to come up with an equation or possibly the answer to the question that i need answered? I need to know the velocity of the discs when they are being launched across the field for my team.

I'm going to assume you have a shooter. If you do, mount an encoder to the output shaft and measure the rotational velocity. The lowest speed recorded should be the muzzle velocity, if you keep the shooter at 100% power throughout the shot. If not, you can put a scale behind the shooter and videotape it, and measure the disc much the way Mythbusters measure velocity. (Scale has markings every couple inches, when you videotape it, you can move frame by frame to see the motion of the disc).

Someone has already posted some data on this; I am not going to spoon feed it to you. Use the search function to find it.

The frisbee velocity is half the tangential velocity of the spinning wheel (assuming no slipping).

Well if you knew the rpm of your motor, then the velocity should be as followed.
RPM / 60 * PI * Diameter(probably in inches) / 39.3701(inches to meters) / 2(from the previous post above?) = velocity in meters/second
