Frc 2013 driver station problem

My team just finished updating all the software US FIRST specified. We followed the order of instillation that FIRST recommended. When we attempt to run the driver station it says that it needs the 2012 lab view for the driver station to run. Has this happened to anybody else, and how did you fix it?

The LabVIEW DVD should have been in the black Kit of Parts tote. Ask around to see if anyone on your team knows where it is. The window for reporting missing KOP items has closed, so you wouldn't be able to request a replacement through normal channels.

Re: Frc 2013 driver station problem

Install the NI Lab View Package. Also if you have a previous years driver station on that laptop lets say 2011 or 2012 for example you need to uninstall or you would need to place those under a new directory in you :C drive. such as driverstation2012 and then let the new driver station create its own directory.
hope this helps
also you could try installing the whole package lab view, utilities, driver station.

Re: Frc 2013 driver station problem

We ran into the same problem. Is this the right runtime to put on the classmate?

http://joule.ni.com/nidu/cds/view/p/id/3433/lang/en

That will be easier than trying to find a USB CD drive to load it from the labview disk.

As for downloading the image for the driver station, the First website currently has this: (but it has a line striked though it)
Update: The Intel site hosting the Classmate Image is currently down. We are working with Intel to fix this problem. Thank you for your patience!

Re: Frc 2013 driver station problem

If you have an older E09 Classmate (2010 KOP), then it's difficult to install more than the Driver Station support without using the special Classmate images FIRST provides. The special Classmate images are again available for the site linked to on the FIRST KOP site.

If you have a newer E11 or E12 Classmate, then you should use the special FRC LabVIEW DVD (or the appropriate classmate image).
You don't need an external USB DVD drive to use the KOP LabVIEW DVD.
Just copy the contents of the DVD onto a USB stick and install from the stick onto the Classmate.

Re: Frc 2013 driver station problem

Putting on the Labview runtime from http://joule.ni.com/nidu/cds/view/p/id/3433/lang/en fixed it for us.

Re: Frc 2013 driver station problem

Help! We go to competition tomorrow and waited until tonight to update the classmate.

Unfortunately, I got the problem you're all describing here, and I'm stuck in the driver account with nothing but a lovely Windows background to look at.

My machine does not automatically connect to the school network, so I can't even use the web browser to download the run-time system.

Any suggestions?

I guess when I get home tonight, I might try creating a bootable USB so I can try to get access to the harddrive and disable whatever makes it automatically logon to the driver account.

Any other ideas? Are there any tricks to logging off the driver account when you don't have a driver station running?

Thanks in advance for any/all assistance!

Re: Frc 2013 driver station problem

Sorry to not answer your question. Does control-alt-delete not bring up a window where you can log off?

First, don't panic. If it comes down to it, you can probably rely on somebody at the competion to have an image you can put on. (first support, other teams, etc), but I'm sure you want to take care of it yourself if possible. I would download and install the image again. Just use the basic driver station version without labview or windriver.

The procedure:

Thumbs up Re: Frc 2013 driver station problem

Hey, thanks for the quick response!!! :-)

I noticed there was a started clicking around the browser menu options and then noticed a "diagnose" link. I clicked it and it tried to get me connected to the internet and then it finally popped, spewed an error on the screen, and then gave me back my Start menu!

So I was finally able to logoff the driver account and logon to the developer account. They've disabled Ctrl-Alt-Del in the driver account, so that's why I was freaking out!

I downloaded the run-time on another machine and copied it to the classmate. It's now 5% Complete -- looks like this could take awhile.

I'm also guessing that I'm going to need to re-install the updates after this has completed, but I'll first try running the driver station from within the developer account (if it doesn't ask me to re-start first like it did after I installed the updates).

I liked the new/improved control system documentation this year, and I was happy when I read that all I needed to do was run the updates on the classmate, but I guess that part of the documentation wasn't quite right. :-(

Thanks again for the assistance and calming words!

Re: Frc 2013 driver station problem

The power switch worked, but every time we turn the classmate on, it automatically logs onto the driver account.

We're all up and running now.

Off to the school to pack the truck!

Thanks again!

We tried updating our old classmate but realized that we had to get the entire image off of the usfirst website. As for our normal driver station which is a dell laptop, running the utilities update, driverstation update and labview update worked perfectly fine for us...
