D-Link Issues

After running our D-Link through the Java setup utility and connecting it to the robot, our team found that it was not transmitting or accepting HTTP connections. The power light is always solid orange, except for when one presses the reset button while rebooting the D-Link in which case the light flashes orange. While the light is in its flashing state, we are able to upload new firmware but uploading firmware has not improved our situation.

When I ran the Java bridge utility, I blanked out the WPA key field with the notion of creating an unprotected network. At first, I thought that this was the issue; the utility refuses to configure when the password is set but less than 8 characters, but leaving it blank was not anticipated by the people who made the utility and thus the utility went along and accidentally messed up the configuration of the bridge. However, loading new firmware should fix the problem if that is the case, which would show that it is not.

If any of you have had similar issues with your D-Link and/or think you can offer a solution, please post it here. Thanks!

Re: D-Link Issues

I left our WPA field blank and the Utility just turned security on the router off.

Usually we press the Reset button ONLY after the router has been powered up.
Pressing the Reset button while power is being applied causes the router to wipe the firmware. Then the router must have new firmware installed before it will work again.

Try powering the router up fully, then press and hold the Reset button until you get the flashing orange light.
Then reset your laptop to 192.168.0.51 and try browsing to the router at 192.168.0.50

After that works, then run the Config Utility.
Then change your laptop IP to 10.16.77.5 and try browsing to the router at 10.16.77.1

Re: D-Link Issues

The one thing that I forgot to mention was that holding the reset button while the D-Link is on has no effect…

Our meeting is over for the night so I don't have access to the lab to be able to test things. I'll be back on it tomorrow night, though.

Re: D-Link Issues

I had a problem configuring the 2013 Radio. It kept reporting that I had illegal firmware version 2.02. I saw that DLink had an updated version (2.03) I uploaded the bin file and attempted to configure the radio. Has anyone had this issue? Has there been any post of the radio firmware being out of date?

Regards,
Mike Porter

Re: D-Link Issues

We've decided that it must be a defect in the router; we've put in for a replacement and it should be arriving by Friday. I wouldn't be all that surprised, our team has historically had bad luck with the wireless communications.

For now, we're doing our testing with last year's router and it's working pretty well.

Re: D-Link Issues

How did you get yours working? We get no response on the router after holding the reset down for 10+ sec.
