Engineers - Michigan
Posted by Ken Patton.   [PICTURE: SAME | NEW | HELP]
Engineer on team #65, The Huskie Brigade, from Pontiac Northern High School and GM Powertrain. Posted on 10/11/2000 3:38 PM MST Great idea on this new forum - its something that really gets at what inspired many companies to get involved in FIRST: hiring highly qualified engineers. GM Powertrain has a strong need for engineers that are ready to work in the area of powertrain control systems. Engine control system hardware, control algorithm software generation, and vehicle calibration are some areas where we are looking for help. Experience (professional, academic, or otherwise) in this area is a big plus. Since many of the systems we work on are electromechanical systems, they require talent in both Electrical and Mechanical Engineering. So, even though there are some big differences between EE's and ME's (you TELL 'em Andy!! ), the best situation might be an ME withEE-sense, or vice-versa. Where I work (in advanced engine design), the ME's definitely dominate, but we would be dead without EE controls talent on the team. If you are seriously interested and qualified, send me a resume, and I will make sure our controls group gives you a good look. If your GPA is below 3.0, don't bother sending anything - GM is pretty much a stickler for good grades.
