delays when sending commands to robot

We recently finished building our final robot build, but we're having problems with delays. We're about 8-15 feet away from the robot, and any command takes about .1 - .25 seconds to reach the robot. We didn't have a problem with our last robot build(as the code is almost the exact same), what could we have done to cause the delays on the robot now? my initial guesses

-Our router is in the middle of the robot, is it covered to much and has a delayed signal?
-What might i be doing in the operator control loop that could slow down the commands so badly?

Thanks for any help!
