Globe Motor

In the Application Notes, it is stated that the shaft of the Globe motors is not suitable for anything not listed in the interface list. I was wondering if this included 'home-made' devices not directly from the Kit of Parts. The Kit includes only two devices that can handle the torque of Globe motors, but there are four motors.

It was planned that there were one per Globe Motor (if I have not totally lost my marbles!), yet the kit list only has a quantity of 2. Don't know what happened.

I will check to see if I have lost my wits or my couplings.

More to come...

Every team should have 4 Ruland Rigid Couplings.

The Kit List is incorrect in stating that only 2 are in the kit. There are 4 per kit.

Question:

Answer:

As discussed above, there are 4 Ruland Rigid Couplings. If you are intent on stalling a Globe motor, you will have to use these.

As to 'homemade' couplings, these can be used on any 1/4 shaft you provide yourselves (assuming that you make them from legal kit material and using legal methods of manufacture, of course), but not directly on the motor shafts that we provide (specifically, the Globes and the Keyangs).

This is basically to reduce the possibility of damage to the shafts of the motors, which we hope to use in future competitions.

There are 4 couplings in the kit. The original list had two, we thought we had better add two additional. This was done on the day of shipping the kit. Thus the paperwork was not updated.

I packed the two extra couplings myself. They were loose in the small plastic container ('E') in kit 'B'.
