[FTC]: Is there an FTC version of The Blue Alliance?

Hi, all,

I'm an FRC mentor and this year we started two FTC teams at my school. I've just recently become more involved with our FTC teams, and I'm looking for info on events and other teams...is there a website that organizes all of that for FTC similar to the way that thebluealliance.com does it for FRC?

Re: [FTC]: Is there an FTC version of The Blue Alliance?

I asked Jess, and she doesn't seem to know of one, either. I just joined FTC class for the two teams we started on our campus as a co-teacher and was trying to find some resources for them...I might try to get them to organize something as an end of the year project...

Re: [FTC]: Is there an FTC version of The Blue Alliance?

If it comes down to it, maybe I can bring it up to the other TBA devs and see if we can add some support for FTC.

Keep us posted with the project, though. TBA started as a student project, so you never know what can happen!

Re: [FTC]: Is there an FTC version of The Blue Alliance?

FTC does maintain a team history report which is updated periodically during the season. No match videos or individual match results but some useful information.

Quote:
The Team History Report is a composite of team performance during the season. Listed in order of Team Number, the report lists Qualification Points , Ranking Points, Highest score achieved and the number of matches each team has played, as reported by the scoring system ranking list. It also summarizes award winners and special recognitions (eligibility for World).

Re: [FTC]: Is there an FTC version of The Blue Alliance?

I'm wondering how hard it would be to have the current FTC scoring computer upload the match results to the internet like the FRC one does.
Obviously I know Idle Loop produced the FRC program to do this, I don't know how difficult it would be to implement a FTC system since the FRC system already exsists.

Often, the FTC scoring computer is not connected to the internet. What FIRST could do is publish the rankings, match results, and elimination ladder reports the scoring system generates for the file sent to FIRST.

Re: [FTC]: Is there an FTC version of The Blue Alliance?

TBA has been working on ways to incorperate FTC, to the website for some time now, we are trying to get a set database for FTC matches and what not, because FIRST does not keep the databases with FTC like they do with FRC, so it is making it harder. But it has been thought of

Unfortunately, they don't have data from the current season, only last year. It will be great when they get this running 100%.

Does anyone know how to contact the YellowAlliance? It would be great to have a way to ask questions or volunteer to support their effort, but I could not find any contact links on their site.

Re: [FTC]: Is there an FTC version of The Blue Alliance?

I tried contacting the Yellow Alliance recently at the email address listed on google+ (theyellowalliance@gmail.com) but got no response. I was told by our local FTC coordinator that FIRST decided not to release FTC tournament data this season, though I don't know why.

If anybody is interested, I am alpha-testing an Android app that allows users to display live FTC tournament data on their device, as long as the FTC Tournament Scoring software has the built-in web server enabled. Our Virginia tournaments have this server enabled. The server should operate on a WIFI SSID/router different from the routers being used to control the robots (e.g., FTC_SCORE or FTC_PIT or something like that).

You should check with your local tournament coordinators to see if the server is enabled, and to get the WIFI SSID and IP address for the server. This information is available under Reports->WebPageInstructions in the FTC Scoring software that is downloadable on the FIRST FTC site. You can download that software and simulate a tournament yourself to test out the software, or give it a try at an upcoming tournament if your coordinators are enabling the server.

The app allows users to see live team info, FTC rankings, match schedules and results, team-specific info (e.g., a list of only the matches a team is in, with results), match specific info (the breakdown of scoring by autonomous, teleop, endgame, and penalties). I'm also about to release a version with live stats, showing win percentage, OPR, DPR, and CCWM. You can also email the full tournament data as a csv for later analysis.

Unfortunately, the app doesn't do much if there's no server to talk to, so you either need to be running the scoring software locally or actually be at a tournament to test it out.

If this goes well and if the FIRST folks decide to release FTC match info next season, I may try to morph this into a Yellow Alliance type thing (or have it interface with the Yellow Alliance if those guys start developing it again). Even if the FTC folks don't release match data in the future, it might be possible to create a database of tournament results compiled by users of the app.

If you're interested in being an alpha-tester of the app, email me at cheer4ftcblog@gmail.com. It's already live in alpha-test mode on Google Play. Unfortunately, there's no IOS version planned at this point.

For FTC to have what FRC has with the Blue Alliance they would have to do a far far better job of keeping with with match results. It's my main sticking point with why I don't like FTC.
