2013 Mt. Olive District Thanks and Congrats

FYI, the videos of all of the matches (except for Match 16 for some reason ) can be found on Youtube here: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list...Bym1lFV2K6TU-K!

222, 11, and 3340: Wow, those were some intense final rounds. Congrats on your win, you were definitely the most competitive alliance there. Those shots just kept going in. 11, congrats also for hosting an amazing event and for the Industrial Design Award, and congrats 222 for the Innovation in Control Award.

3314 and 714: Thank you so much for making an awesome finalist alliance with us. We loved playing with you, and certainly couldn't have gotten that far without either of you. We played our hardest, and never gave up.

1881: Congrats on the Imagery Award! But more than that, I want to thank you so very much for the "Commitment to Excellence" Award that you gave to us. When I found that in our pit on Saturday, after losing almost half of our matches that day, that cheered me up so much. Thank you for recognizing us, and we wish you all the best.

75: Congrats on Chairman's!!! Woah...de ja vu.... 2 years in a row at Mt. Olive - a legacy is starting! But really, I can't say enough about your team. There is no team I know that deserves to be in the FIRST Hall of Fame more than you guys. We're crossing our fingers that this will be your year! Nothing ever seems to bring your spirits down, nor stops you from cheering. Seeing you guys come over and support us during our matches warms my heart so much. It means so much to our whole team. You are a role model for all other teams to follow. I can't express my most sincere gratitude enough - but really, from the bottom of my heart, congrats and thank you, thank you, thank you. I don't know how you do it, my voice was killing me after just the first few matches on Saturday, yet you guys just keep going. Even your alumni continue on your inspiring attitude - with a special recognition to Andrew Lubin, who spent much time on Saturday graciously repairing another competing team's bumpers.

Our good friends at Don Bosco - congrats on the Rookie Inspiration Award! I'm sure we'll be seeing more great things from 4653 for many years to come.

Also, while I unfortunately forget the team numbers and names right now (), thanks so much to whoever loaned us their pneumatic air pumps for our shooter wheel, and also to all of those who congratulated us on our Engineering Inspiration Award win. It's an award that we have never won before, and we feel so wonderfully honored.

I bet I'm forgetting someone to thank/congrats (oh, Chiniqua and Howard! But I'm sure there are more), but thank you and congratulations to all of the competing teams for making the event so great.

We can't wait to see many of you again at Bridgewater Raritan in two weeks, and then Lehigh the week after that!

What a fantastic event! Great teams, amazing matches, and so well run. Don't know how MORT manages to both run and compete in the same event!
And I LOVE Chiniqua! She is the best!

Re: 2013 Mt. Olive District Thanks and Congrats

Best finals matches I have ever seen. And I was at IRI last year...

Ryan mostly said it all as far as thanks & congratulations go.

Team 75 is really an inspiration to us, and me personally. They are the team to emulate in my opinion: Some years a good robot, some years a great robot (like this year - man, that climber is a work of art!), and some years a mediocre robot... But ALWAYS cheering for everyone, and on their feet for every award, and all over the pits fixing robots (ask 2070 about bumpers). And the coolest thing is that they don't do it for the awards, they do it because it's what they do.

What can I say about MORT? Great robot, great team, and a really wonderful event. Now there's two of them, A & B. I think I'm going to call them Thing One and Thing Two....

Thank you to Teams 714 and 3314 for your help Sunday. You were both picked because you were the best in the house, and it shows.

Congrats to our friends at PoJo, 1302 Team Lionheart, for their GP award. This is, in my mind, just a tiny step away from Chairman's.

And thanks for the many, many volunteers at the event, from Michelle in Pit Admin to George A our awesome announcer...

See you at BR

Re: 2013 Mt. Olive District Thanks and Congrats

First of all thank you so much to all of the organizers and volunteers who made the event run smoothly. Special thank you to 11's mentor David Bodmer, who not only helped us with our Business Plan that helped us snag the Entrepreneurship Award, but for also giving us a look at 11's awe-inspiring work space after the event. As a second year team it is a motivational experience to see such a space with that many fancy toys, i mean tools.

Second matter of business is to thank and congratulate the Champions of the event, the worthy alliance of 11, 222, and 3340. Especially to 11 and 222's drive team and mentor's, it was a pleasure to work and compete against you. I had fun trying to defend against your alliance in the semi's and it was a blast. And to 222 who, after we lost a usb hub on the field, lent us an extra.

Finally I would like to thank our incredible alliance partners of 75, and 1367. Even up against terrible odds, we put up a good fight, and pushed all of our robots to their limits. Congratulations to 75 for winning the Chairman's Award, you deserved it. Hopefully in our team's future we can match the type of impact your team has made and we can also earn a coveted Chairman's Award.

I'm gonna second this. 4653 just plain get it. Great things will be seen from them on both the outreach side, as well as robot side. They basically started with around 2 or 3 students in October, and at least tripled that by build season. Can't wait to see them take over a school that is regarded as one of the best football programs in the country Talking to them and their mentors(all rookies BTW-no FIRST veterans) they were already excited to carry the momentum from this season on towards next year.

Huge congrats to 75 for the Chairmans, a simple walk past your pit is enough to see that you guys definitely deserve it.

Also, this was the first FRC competition I've gone to as a spectator(excluding Championships last year...) and wow, MORT put on an amazing event. The venue is absolutely perfect and is what District events should aspire to be. Our programmer wishes we went there solely for the lighting in the gym providing no chance of interference

Re: 2013 Mt. Olive District Thanks and Congrats

First thanks to all the volunteers who made this event happen.

Thanks to our awesome partners 11 & 3340! These teams were awesome to work with & made our run to the finals smooth.

Congrats to 1676, 3314 & 714 for being finalists. Your alliance played well together. All three teams were very high on our pick list coming in to Sunday morning and we knew we would have our hands full when your alliance formed.

Also thanks to the 222 students and fellow mentors who put in tons of hours. We worked hard as a group and never could have gotten as far as we did without your commitment to improvement. I can't wait to see what we will improve on/add for MAR Championships

Also thanks to 3929 for the shout out during awards!

With many members of our team up here in Boston coming from teams 222 and 11, it was awesome to watch them play together on the webcast.

Congrats guys, well deserved!

Thank you! Giving you guys the "Gammy" as we like to call them was the least we could have done. 1676 has helped us out since our rookie year and has always been a role model team for us. Keep up the amazing work out there.

Thanks to our alliance members 1672 and 4475. It was great collaborating and playing with you guys

I would also like to thank team 11 for putting on a great event. We had a blast participating. I hope to see you all in Bethlehem!

Re: 2013 Mt. Olive District Thanks and Congrats

Thanks Ryan for putting up all the videos! It's awesome to watch those matches again, those finals matches were intense.

Thanks to 222 and 3340 for being awesome alliance partners. You both have awesome machines, and it was a pleasure to work with you guys throughout eliminations.

1676, 3314, 714. Wow what a killer alliance. Between the crazy points that 1676 and 3314 put up, and the awesome defense that 714 played, you guys had an amazing alliance all around. You played amazing in your finals matches against us, and you should be proud of how well you performed.

193, you guys had an incredible first event! Being made of all newbies isn't easy at all, and it's even harder to get fourth seed at your first ever event. Once these guys fix their jamming issues, they are going to be a big threat on the field!

Re: 2013 Mt. Olive District Thanks and Congrats

The last match of this event was so intense! Of course the real time scoring was not accurate and made it seem as if the blue alliance was winning. At the end of the match the officials announced a foul against the red alliance and everyone held their breath until the offficial score was announced. I love this game!!

Personally having the collision in the second finals match and having Team 11's battery come unplugged I thought was pretty interesting.

Velcro around the Anderson Power connector is our friend.

Many thanks to everyone above.

Yeah. One of the very first things I learned was to do two zipties end to end, and ziptie the andersons together. Happy to say I've never lost a battery as a student.

Hey getting the battery unplugged made for good suspense.
I've asked them not to do that anymore.

Next year I need to remember to start by suggesting we plug the robot in and keep it that way for at least the duration of the match.

It's a feature...not a bug.
