Summary: The Mechatronics Instructor shall deliver the State of Michigan Curriculum as regulated by the Michigan Department of Education to students in the Mechatronics program for Kent Career Technical Center.
Job Qualifications:
• Minimum of Associate's degree
• Interim Occupational Certificate or Occupational Education Certificate in Mechatronics (CIP Code 14.4201) or in Industrial Production or Electro Mechanical Technology or hold a VT and Occupational Certificate in the Electrical area.
• Or, if no Occupational Certificate, 4,000 hours of paid recent (last 6 years) and relevant work experience to qualify for Annual Vocational Authorization in Mechatronics or a related field, such as Engineering or Robotics.
• Must be able to develop and deliver Mechatronics curriculum, utilize best practice and web technologies to deliver instruction, develop authentic learning projects, develop and maintain contacts and partnerships with those in the industry.
• Must possess excellent organizational skills, technology skills, be detail and team oriented, and have excellent communication skills.
• Experience working with high school age students and diverse student population, preferred.
Job Responsibilities:
• Instruct students by lecturing, demonstrating, and using audiovisual aids and other materials to supplement presentations.
• Develop project based learning experiences and effectively integrate lab equipment into student learning and assessment.
• Assign lessons and correct homework.
• Administer tests to evaluate pupil progress, record results, and issue reports to inform parents of progress.
• Keep attendance records.
• Maintain a positive system of classroom management.
• Meet with parents to discuss student progress and problems.
• Participate in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops.
• Perform related duties such as sponsoring one or more activities or student organizations, assisting pupils in selecting course of study, and counseling student in adjustment and academic problems.
• Facilitate work based learning experiences for students (field trips, job shadows, internships, job placement).
• Promote and market the Mechatronics and overall KCTC programs.
• Provide evaluation and development of the Mechatronics curriculum.
• Insure a safe lab and classroom environment.
• Monitor the budget, determine equipment needs and place orders.
• Serve on the Mechatronics Advisory Committee and others when necessary.
• Integrate technology to leverage the online capabilities of the Mechatronics Curriculum.
• Have extensive knowledge and experience with:

o Electrical/Motor Controls/VFD/Servo/Sensor Driven
