Help getting started with Arduino

Hi,

One of our mentors has several Arduinos he has made available for us to use this year. So far, my ideas for use have been limited to controlling LEDs. Towards this goal, I was wondering what the best way is to get data, specifically the getAllianceColor data, to the Arduino. I have thought about using the serial port, but I am not sure how to implement this in the robot Java code. Any other methods, or any step by step tutorial would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Zach

Re: Help getting started with Arduino

When we did this last year, we wired one of the pins on the Arduino board to one of the DSC Digital I/O signal pins, then had the robot code use that DSC pin as a digital out, outputting the data we wanted to read (in your case, the alliance color).

Re: Help getting started with Arduino

You could have a simple switch, and before the match just switch it depending on your alliance colors.
