Catching without throwing

Since a catch is defined as when the ball is sent over the truss and then in possession by another alliance robot without the ball touching the ground or human player, can I simply place the ball on top of the truss, and the have my alliance partner pick it up off of the other side of the truss for a catch? The ball went over the truss without touching the ground or human player, so is this a possible strategy?

Re: Catching without throwing

From Rule R3:
Quote:
the ROBOT height may not exceed 60 in., except as allowed by G23.
Rule G23:
Quote:
If a ROBOT is in contact with carpet in its GOALIE ZONE...there is no height restriction
my point: no, you cannot extend upwards of 5' unless in the goalie zone.

good luck

Re: Catching without throwing

It might be possible with Coanda effect manipulation devices (like leaf blowers). You might want to Q&A that before you commit to the design though.
