Springs!?

hello, Im the Captain of team 4661 - The Red Pirates, from israel (sorry for bad English ).
We have a problem, we dont know if you are able to start a match with a spring that was already compressed before the match itself begins. we know that we are not able to go through the inspection the compressed spring... but have no idea about the match.
and if anyone can plz write here all the rules that are relevant for springs it will make me happy TY !

Look up Rule R34, and in particular part C. A spring stores energy by means of deformation.

So to answer your question, yes it is legal to start a match with stored potential energy by means of a spring.

Just make sure the spring, and the system around it, is generally safe. This rule (R8 in Game Manual, section 4.2) applies no matter what the other rules say:

ROBOT parts shall not be made from hazardous materials, be unsafe, cause an unsafe condition, or interfere with the operation of other ROBOTS.
