Go to Post Last year we saved a ton of money by using a good bit of square tubing for the frame of our robot, square tubing is a lot cheaper then C channel. We get to use so much raw material that the cost should go down in certain places. - Derrick Maust [more]

Embedded software, controls, and system engineering opportunity

The company I work for has some open engineering positions, and we love people with FIRST experience. We currently have an opening for an embedded software engineer, and an engineer in our systems engineering / control systems team. If you are interested, please send me a PM.

We are currently looking for people with about 2-5 years of post-college experience. We can reduce that to 0 with sufficient real-world co-op or internship experience, or some other special circumstance.

Company background:

The company is a small niche-market supplier that designs, produces, and sells off-the-shelf electronic control modules and provides engineering services to turn those modules into useful control systems.

As a niche-market company, we get to work on a lot of fun clean-sheet-of-paper designs in a lot of different areas ranging from vehicle chassis control, engine control, aircraft systems, hybrid prototypes, as well as many other projects. Project length can vary from 2 months to 2+ years. The saying around here is that if you don't like what you're working on now, don't worry - you'll be on a new project before long. The work environment is in a lot of ways like working on FIRST - very dynamic and always developing something new (not just refining the 6th generation of the widget your company has been working on for years).

It is a small, yet steadily growing company. The US office is located in Plymouth, MI, which is a suburb of Detroit that is about 10 miles east of Ann Arbor. Plymouth is a very nice area, BTW.

If you have any questions, let me know.
