Re: pic: 4587 CAD progress
Cooper, I'm really impressed with your individual growth this past offseason. I know I've said it before, but great work man. Excited for your team!
Keep it up! For anyone who hasn't heard of these guys - http://www.thebluealliance.com/team/4587/2013 |

Re: pic: 4587 CAD progress
I can't find a launching mechanism for long range assists or shooting. Do you not have one planned, or is that still a work in progress?
Or is it on the model, and I'm too blind to see it? ![]() |

Cooper,
This is really impressive. Lone Star is going to be absolutely stacked this year. Can't wait to see the finished robot. |

Re: pic: 4587 CAD progress
That looks really good! But am also curious about the launcher.

Re: pic: 4587 CAD progress
At the moment the launcher is not shown. However, we have planned for a fully variable linear launcher puncher thingy (lol), that is either going to be compression spring powered or surgical tube powered. We hope to get the compression spring powered linear launcher fully prototyped by the end of this week. We are still unsure of how much benefit we will truly see from a fully variable puncher though. As it is, we could just go with a full power 100% of the time launcher and then use the giant arm angle changer seen on the bot to make our shots from different positions. As the week progresses I will keep you guys posted!
Also, thanks so much for all of the compliments! We truly appreciate all of the nice things that are being said and hope to fully deliver to our highest capability. Good luck in this years game! |

Re: pic: 4587 CAD progress
We have done some math and ordered a few compression springs from mcmaster to try them out. We are using a lead screw to compress them quickly with a cim and a gearbox, then a release trigger to release the energy. If this doesn't work we will go straight to surgical tube. The way the mechanism works is in a sense there are 2 moving parts the spring is compressed against the plunger then the plunger is released with the compression spring energy being exerted on the plunger propelling it forward.

Re: pic: 4587 CAD progress
It is absolutely possible for a team to seed 1st this year without ever putting a ball into a goal. In fact, it's way more likely than it has ever been.

Re: pic: 4587 CAD progress
I bet a lot of teams win events as the seeded teem or first pick w/o any ability to launch.

Re: pic: 4587 CAD progress
So long as someone actually does it. Unfortunately all the chatter on here seems as if everyone is just focusing on shooting the high goal.
