Victor won't show red or green lights
Hello
We are using 8 victor (888, I believe) which, as far as I know, are supposed to show red or green lights for reverse/forward respectively. Currently we have splitter cables going to the 4 victors controlling drive - 1 pwm for the right and one for the left side. Each victor is powered individually on 40a breakers. The other 4 victors (non drive) are not powered yet, so they should be irrelevant here. The problem we are having is that when we are powering one side, the victors controlling the cim motors for drive are only showing orange (or no light). That being said, they are still functioning properly. I thought it needed to display the correct color lights - can someone explain why this is? |

Re: Victor won't show red or green lights
The Victors only show red or green when they are outputting full power. They are off otherwise. It could be that your joystick isn't going the full range, or that the Victor calibration doesn't match the cRIO's output. You could fix this by calibrating the victors. However, if the problem is your joysticks, you might mess up hour autonomous by calibrating to a bad joystick.

Re: Victor won't show red or green lights
I agree, what you should do is first calibrate the joysticks with the computer, so that when they are neutral the computer reads zero, when full on they read one, etc. After that you should calibrate the victors. If you don't then the robot may drive unevenly and you wont get maximum power out of your drivetrain.

Re: Victor won't show red or green lights
Thanks, that clears things up. On a related note, has anyone noticed that the Microsoft Xbox controllers from first choice are having joystick issues with them not returning to a 0 position after being released, even if calibrated?

Yes, many people have reported that Xbox controllers do no go back to center. Logitech controllers are are much better in that regard.
