Posted by Jennifer at 2/11/2001 3:53 PM EST
Student on team #481, DART, from De Anza High School and KPCB. I am in need of a list of all the teams attending the Silicon Valley and SoCal Regionals. I have been searching around for one, but my attemps have been unsuccessful. If you know where I could get one, or when a list will become avaible please contact me at theatarisrock@netzero.net Also if your team will be attending either of these regionals it would be superawesome if you could email me. Thanks muchO. |

I'm biting my lip

Engineer on team #111, Wildstang, from Rolling Meadows & Wheeling and Motorola. In Reply to: TEAM LIST FOR SILICON VALLEY AND SOCAL REGIONALS Posted by Jennifer on 2/11/2001 3:53 PM EST: I've got a list of all the teams & competitions, but I don't want to post because I don't want to get anyone (including myself) in trouble. All I'll say is that both CA regionals are slightly above the average for regional attendence. Mike |

getting in trouble is easy...

Engineer on team #47, Chief Delphi, from Pontiac Central High School and Delphi Automotive Systems. In Reply to: Re: I'm biting my lip Posted by Jennifer on 2/11/2001 5:22 PM EST: Perhaps Mike knows someone on Motorola's regional planning committee? Hey, perhaps he is ON the regional planning committee. In either case, I can easily imagine how an indiscreet message on these forums can cause a lot of grief for a lot of people -- how quickly folks forget my mischievous "Game Unveiled Early" posting. In any case, I am intrigued by the cryptic posting about the CA regionals having above average attendance. Does he just mean that the regionals are sold out? Maybe something more is being implied? getting in trouble is easy & getting out is tough

Posted by Joe Johnson on 2/11/2001 9:40 PM EST: Joe, you give me too much credit. I'm not on any planning committee, I'm just a software engineer. I may get in trouble posting the list because I got it from someone who got it from someone who... I'm not sure if the original person was supposed to keep it secret or not. That's why I'm not making it public. All that was meant by "above average" is that I computed the mean & median of the attendence at each regional and both CA regionals were above that mark. I have no idea if they're sold out or not, or if any more teams have signed up since I got the list. But I'm assuming the list is accurate since whenever someone has posted what regionals they're attending, it matched what I have. Mike |

SV & SoCal teams
Posted by Jason Morrella at 2/11/2001 11:52 PM EST
Coach on team #254, Cheesy Poofs, from Bellarmine College Prep & others and NASA Ames/Cypress Semiconductor/Unity Care. In Reply to: I'm biting my lip Posted by Mike Soukup on 2/11/2001 4:29 PM EST: When Mike speaks of "above average attendance", I am pretty sure he is just speaking of the number of teams competing in these regionals. Both the Silicon Valley & Southern California Regionals (as well as most other regionals)did hit their "cap" and were closed during registration. There are 48 teams in the Southern Cal Regional There are 52 teams in the Silicon Valley Regional - about 10 teams competing in both FIRST is handling many things right now (regional logistics / planning, questions & updates, chairman's award submissions, & much more) so they may not have gotten to posting team lists on the web yet.
