Using sfx for a Camera

We're trying to use a Axis Companion camera on our robot. We got it working hardwired to the laptop, but we can't seem to get connected when it's on the robot.

We used the Axis camera setup tool we configured the IP for it. We're trying to add the camera through SmartDashboard and sfx but we still can't get it working/no camera is found. Any suggestions about mistakes to look for or places to get started? Thank you!

You should just be able to drop a "Camera" widget onto a tab of the dashboard.

When you click on the widget, a text box should show up allowing you to change the location of the camera's image stream. Something like this:

http://10.0.0.11/mjpg/video.mjpg

You need to change the address to the IP of your camera, something like this:

http://10.45.05.11/mjpg/video.mjpg

If after you set up the IP correctly it still doesn't work. Type that address into your web browser (while connected to the robot) and see if it works.
http://10.45.05.11/mjpg/video.mjpg

If you can't get the stream working in the browser, then the URL likely needs to be modified for your specific camera or the IP isn't correct. What model camera are you using?

What address/URL is working for you when the camera is hard wired to the laptop?

Are robot communications (in driver station) working when you are not tethered to the robot?

We have an Axis Camera Companion

10.45.5.11 worked when we were hardwired to the camera directly, but we haven't gotten it to work through the robot. We can't connect to the camera using http://10.45.05.11/mjpg/video.mjpg either, it just hangs up and nothing will load. What might cause that?
