Field Reset Tethering
I've see a field faults this year because of cycle errors, and I was wondering are you allowed to tether your robots before the match resets? The reason I'm wondering, is that if this happens while our catapult is up, we are outside the frame perimeter, and the only way to reset it is to tether. I know we are not allowed to change the battery, but what is the policy for this?

Re: Field Reset Tethering
If a match has to be restarted, then the FTA allows teams to tether to reset their robots to the starting configuration.
They will give you direction if it's necessary. Just let them know you need to tether and why. They probably won't give you 10 minutes to recharge a million air tanks, so build a system that can be reset quickly. Last edited by Mark McLeod : 01-03-2014 at 12:17. |

Re: Field Reset Tethering
5 minutes to recharge is a good goal for pneumatics, since the minimum time between elimination matches is 6 minutes.

Re: Field Reset Tethering
Just wondering, does it say in the manual that after a field fault you are not allowed to change your battery?

Re: Field Reset Tethering
I don't believe that there are solid rules for a field fault.

Re: Field Reset Tethering
I have always heard in the past from the FTA's that we were not allowed to change batteries, and that they don't even like rebooting the robots. But I just looked through the rules, and the only rule about field faults is T16, where it says the match will be replayed. It doesn't say how it will be replayed. We will make sure to have a spare battery with us in case a match has to get replayed, and see what the FTA's say.

Re: Field Reset Tethering
Every field reset that I've been apart of, the FTA's tell us to reboot the robot.
