Gearscout: Team 2338's Scouting System

We might be a little late to the party, releasing our scouting system after week 3, but this is the first public release of our 2014 scouting system. An early version was used by team 2338 at the Crossroads regional, and will be used collaboratively at the Midwest regional.

Our match scouting software is coded in java, and produces a CSV file which can be imported into the spreadsheet. The program itself reads when keys are pressed to collect data. By using a game controller keybinding program, game controllers are used to input match scouting data. The matchschedule.csv file is used by the program to input team numbers for each match. Just type in the match number, press begin, scout, and then hit save at the end of the match. Rinse and repeat.

The software outputs a scouting data file, which is imported into the spreadsheet (the "about" sheet has more information on how/where to import data). The spreadsheet combines pit scouting and match scouting data and runs just about every imaginable statistic (except OPR, but that'll happen at some point).

An early version of this system was used by our team for scouting at the Crossroads regional, and the entire system proved to work very reliably. At Crossroads, we used playstation controllers and a macbook pro for match scouting, and an ancient Lenovo ultralight laptop for pit scouting and data management.

Feel free to make changes to fit your team's needs. Please share your changes here, I'd love to see how you guys make this system even better!

Re: Gearscout: Team 2338's Scouting System

Our scouting system does a similar thing, using joysticks to scout, outputting match files in .csv format and then later on combines all the match files to a master file that has data for each robot. Its also made in html/css/js
