Best examples of a match where robots work together against defense.

Hey guys, I have spent a lot of time on TBA just pre scouting for champs and have yet to find a truly fantastic match where one alliance works together around heavy defense and plays the game how the GDC wanted it to be played. If you know of any fantastic matches could we collect them in this thread?

Waterloo Semis 2 Match 1

254, 2056, and 865 play the game how I believe the GDC wanted it to be played. They also played well even though they had defense on them.

1678/368/4171 played excellent defense and forced our alliance to drop points on our cycles throughout the match. On the first cycle we lose out on 20 points when 4171 blocks 1662 from inbounding. I'll throw in the Inland Empire finals. 399 and 1678 and their third partner put on an absolute clinic, including two truss-and-catch in the same cycle.

Wow that was an incredible match. And to think I hadn't watched MSC quarters yet. Time to start!

If you're looking for heavy defense and good strategy, look at the NECMP from week 7. I doubt any other region has more defense than NE.

Indeed NECMP had some of the best defensive matches of the year it was awsome to be part of that

Im amazed that no one had mentioned this yet. Prior to this match, there were two matches played, both won by the 8th seed. However, both were declared to have a field fault. Then, they won again. So the 8 seed actually went 3-2 in their quarters, but two of their wins didn't count. And the wins were by very large margins - not just a few points.

The previous two matches had pretty glaring field faults in autonomous mode that caused the #1 alliance to miss nearly all their balls and spend time clearing them. The #8 seed did a fantastic job but you shouldn't make it seems like the replays weren't warranted or that the #1 seed didn't deserve to win. The field faults clearly contributed to the very large margins in the first two matches.

This is entirely correct, although the #1 alliance DID get to see the #8 alliance's strategy on three occasions, developing a counter-strategy for QF1-2 and QF1-3. I feel like the #8 seed got the short end of the stick here.

I agree, no one likes playing replays, and there should be a system in place that allows the field logs to be recorded with out having to run entire matches that put robots at risk and give away strategy. However the #1 seed still won and we should give them credit for that. I said the #8 seed did a great job and believe that. Play that series again and it may easily go the other way but we shouldn't diminish the accomplishment of the #1 alliance.

And the red alliance missed all three balls in auto due to the field fault, which is death in this game.

The blue alliance knows the first two "wins" weren't legitimate. The third was very much so.
