What actually happened to team 47?
Hey, I've always wondered what happened to team 47 "Chief Delphi" after 2009. I've searched this before, but have never found an answer. Considering they made this forum filled with so much info, and created so many innovations in FRC *Like swerve!*, I'm surprised that there seem to be no threads on this. Can anyone with any knowledge on what happened please share it?

Re: What actually happened to team 47?
They merged with FRC 65, the Husky Brigade, to form FRC 51, Wings of Fire. This was driven by the closing of Chief Delphi's school.

Thanks for the quick reply! Sad to hear the school closed down.

Re: What actually happened to team 47?
Ok, so reading through that thread, what's the deal with team 46? Or is it just an intentional bug left on TBA?

Re: What actually happened to team 47?
Team numbers were assigned alphabetically based on team sponsors pre 1998, with team 47 being 46 in 1997 and 32 in 1996.

Re: What actually happened to team 47?
They weren't random, they were assigned alphabetically by main sponsor. That's why you see things like teams in the 40s were sponsored by Delphi Automotive and teams in the 170s were all sponsored by United Technologies.

Right, my mistake. I do far prefer fixed team numbers though!

This video provides a small glimpse into what happened, and the coolest part was a split drive team between 47 and 65 in my humble opinion. |
