4592 Beta Test Blog

Team 4592 is beta testing the new roboRIO micro controller. After much discussion, we've decided to post our blog on the most popular FRC discussion site... CHIEF DELPHI! I'll be discussion our progress and talking about things that have been approved by FIRST here. I will most likely update this thread weekly. Please ask any questions you may have in this thread!

Note: we will begin actual software and hardware work on the beta tomorrow. School starting on the 18th delayed it slightly.

Re: 4592 Beta Test Blog

We've unboxed it and installed some of the software. Currently buying some connectors for items and waiting for some updates from FIRST. I'll try to post some pictures when I get a chance. *Most likely Monday*

At Team 116, we are also part of the Beta test team. You can go to:
https://www.facebook.com/FRC2015ControlsBeta

Like the page and we'll keep you updated as we make progress.

For a set of the latest pictures of the installed control system. We're working on the software now. BTW, we're a C++ team and we have a lot of ARM Linux experience. So, very high on our list is to get all of the build tools working on a Linux install once we verify that everything's working on WinDoze.

Please let us know how that goes. I was part of the project to get the vxworks toolchain going for gcc 4.8, and have some interesting ideas on what we could do now.

Re: 4592 Beta Test Blog

Apologies on this update being late! Benchtop testing is on the verge of completion, with the roboRIO being moved to a new robot soon. I'll try to get a big write-up with feedback posted here by next Wednesday, but it might take a bit longer due to Panther Prowl being so close.

NOTE: I apologize for any spelling and grammatical errors in previous posts. I used a tablet for all posts prior to this one, making typing significantly more difficult.

Re: 4592 Beta Test Blog

Our kit is running perfectly, and we're moving it to a new experimental chassis. We will post a video with the experimental chassis soon, but we lack a few parts at the moment. Get ready!
