Girls Generation, Rookie Rumble and BunnyBots Registration Open

Registration is now open for the fall pre-season FIRST Robotics competitions at Catlin Gabel in Portland. These events are a fantastic, some would say irreplaceable, way to get new members up to speed in FIRST Robotics. Students always come back from these things way more energized than when they went in. These events are all capped at 24 robots so first come first served. Cost is $100 per robot to cover transport, field expenses, and janitorial.

The events coming down the pike are:

Girls’ Generation Saturday 10/11/14
Only girls can be on the drive team and only girls and their mentors work on the robots in the pit. This uses existing 2014 robots on a regulation FRC field. www.team1540.org/girlsgeneration

Rookie Rumble Sunday 10/12/14
Drive and pit crew roles assumed by students who didn’t have that same role in the past season. A great way for students of either gender to try something new. The robot and official field are already there from Girls’ Generation the day before, so why not! www.team1540.org/rookierumble

BunnyBots Saturday 12/20/14
Students get ready for build season by building FRC class robots for an original game. The stress is lower and the timeframe more relaxed but there’s nothing second rate about the fun and satisfaction. Rules form this year’s game, Pandemonium, are posted on Sept 1st at www.1540.org/bunnybots. Registration is, however, open now.

All of these are held at Catlin Gabel School in Portland, OR http://www.catlin.edu/contact/campus-map
