[FRC Blog] Are You Green to Go?

Initial event registration less than a week away! Are you excited? I am!

But before you get too excited – make sure you are ‘green to go’.

When you first log into TIMS, you are taken to the ‘My FRC Dashboard’ screen. On that screen, you will see a section that looks like this, but with your team number and name filled in:

Click on the ‘Team Summary’ button, which is likely highlighted with a shifting color background.

Take a look at the FRC Team Profile section, on the Team Summary page, of a ‘green to go’ team in TIMS below. Note – this is a test team for our internal use, not a real team. There is a real team from Manchester Central High School, FRC Team 131, C.H.A.O.S., but 2015 will decidedly not be their rookie year, they’ve been around since the Carter administration. Almost.

As noted at the top of the section, all of these elements must be completed before you can register. This area also shows the Youth Protection Program (YPP) certification status of the main and alternate contact. If you have a black ‘X’ that looks something like this: in ANY of the areas above, you will not be able to register for your first event until you are showing the friendly green checks. The good news in the Team Information, Organization, and Profile Status sections is that if you are now showing a black ‘X’, you can correct that yourself right away. Click the buttons next to them to add the necessary information, or validate it.

On the YPP (Passed) section, you can see if your Main and Alternate contacts have been YPP certified. The process, as we have said before, can take a few days. This means, if you haven’t done so already, you should start the process now. Seriously.

If you want to check your YPP status from this page, click on the button in the upper right that looks like this, to take you back to the FRC Dashboard, where you started.

As we’ve said before, if you are in contact with other teams, especially rookies, please reach out to make sure they are ready to go. We want everyone to have a great registration experience! If you have any questions, please send an email to frcteams@usfirst.org, or call our friendly support folks at 800-871-8326 extension zero.

What is really scary is there are going to be teams that didn't get the message.

And the really sad part is that those teams are the ones that will probably need the most help (rookies and such)

I feel as bad for the teams as I will for the inevitably overwhelmed support team at HQ.

Re: [FRC Blog] Are You Green to Go?

not sure how many emails i got about this over the past month from FIRST and VAFIRST but it's at least once a week. If folks aren't getting the info, they can only blame themselves.

If you come to a FRC event to see a robot competition, you are missing the point.

Yeah Va. First made double sure we all knew...Kinda like Santa checking his list.
I'm pretty sure everyone will be covered...but it wouldn't surprize me if a few miss it.

There are some teams, especially new ones that don't check their e-mails
until its almost time to register. One of the benefits of making your program
as year round thing is being able to keep up to date on things like this.
